You could be right, but with or without him the Panthers are still losing their season opener. [IMG]

Nope. Panthers could play without Smith and Delhomme and still beat the Falcons in week 1.

Smith is not even definately out i dont think although if he does play it will probally be limited and lets not forget hes not their only big threat reciever. Its killing my fantasy team either way but he is not the key to victory in this although hed be a big help

    good call there PA

btw Steve Smith is the core of that team alone. They need that guy hes a gamechanger he was their offense last year without him i dont think they are anything. personally i'm not as high on the Panthers as all the "experts" are i think they are just a hyped up trendy pick that if they make the playoffs will not go so far.

didnt look so good against the Falcons tho

Without Steve Smith the Panthers are an okay team. With him they can win a Super Bowl. I think smith has more influence on Delhomme than Carolina actually. Delhomme really has a go to guy and sticks with him all game long. He didn't have that today with Smith out.

Didn't you say Miami would win in Pittsburgh? You bet on the Packers vs. the Bears without getting any points?

Dude you're dropping down to Porky's level on the smarts chart.

I also qualified that statement by saying that Miami would win if both Big Ben AND Hines Ward didn't play. Like I said...I've been wrong before. I could rant for five minutes about why Miami lost, but why bother? They DID lose. I don't make excuses.

How 'bout 'dem Lions? Oh, wait...

    Smart charts??

Your the one that is believing a bad team in the Lions will be good after losing to Seattle. You guys lost 9 to 6 and you'll be good this year? I don't see how going 0-1 can be making progress. Green Bay went 0-1 as well. They are tied with the Lions right now. Mike Martz sure turned that O around. Roy Williams played bad. John Kitna didn?t look any better than Joey Harrington. Kevin Jones looked ok at sometimes. Detroit has a ways to go where as Miami and Chicago will be in contention this season and probably stomp through Detroit this season.

If anyone needs to get a hold of yourself it's our token Lion fan. I'll get the paper bags.

The panthers losing the opener isnt that bad. Last year lost to the saints in the opener.

We just flat out couldnt stop the run. Half the defensive was trying to stop the RB, half the team was trying to stop Vick.

The panthers D is gonna be so releaved to know that the next QB they play is Brad Johnson who runs a 10 sec 40(JK viking fans)

Losing the opener means squat. The Eagles lose the opener almost every year (cept this one)...

    lets think back...
01 Loss to St. Louis 20-17 made playoffs
02 Loss vs Titans 27-24- made playoffs
03 Loss vs Buccaneers 17-0 made playoffs
04 Win vs Giants 34-24 made Super Bowl
05 Loss vs Atlanta 14-10 lets not go there

What, did Johnson attend Cris Carter's speed camp? That sounds a bit fast to me. [IMG]

Seriously, I'd rather face Vick than Johnson. I've heard several defensive players say similar things. Johnson is a smart QB who will pick apart a defense and not give you the opportunity to make big defensive plays. Vick is a talented runner who, at this point in his career, is one dimensional. This seems to happen every year: teams forget how to stop Vick. The trick to Vick (no rhyme intended) is to contain him in the pocket - don't rush him, contain him. He's a bad enough passer that if he is forced to throw, you'll win.

I picked Atlanta b/c I had a pretty good hunch that Steve Smith wasn't going to suit up for this one. These 2 will be fighting to the end for the division title IMO. The Bucs are at least a notch or 2 below.
