<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kirk Hinrich was a late addition to Team USA last year. This time, he could be a late subtraction.

The U.S. National squad is looking at some difficult roster cuts before the Olympic qualifying tournament begins in Las Vegas, while Hinrich is facing difficult competition.

It?s probably safe to assume Orlando?s J.J. Redick will not make the final roster, so Team USA will need to get from 16 players down to 12 once practice resumes Aug. 13.

At the July 22 intrasquad scrimmage, only Redick played fewer minutes than Hinrich?s 13. The Bulls guard finished with a mundane 4 points, 1 assist and 3 turnovers.

The Team USA coaching staff recognized last year that Hinrich is not a true point guard and played him behind New Orleans? Chris Paul during the FIBA World Championships in Japan.

Paul is not participating this time around, but the selection committee demonstrated a preference for point guards by adding New Jersey?s Jason Kidd and Utah?s Deron Williams to the roster, while Detroit?s Chauncey Billups is on hand after an excused absence last year.</div>

Sucks, he is a good PG. I think this season really hurt him and he hasn't improved that much since his 1st and second season. With the addition of Jason Kidd, Deron Williams and other PG's it is hard for Hinrich to stay on.

maybe they could put him on SG...

Yeah PG is the hardest position to get a good spot, maybe SF too with Bron and Melo. Kidd is a shoo-in and Deron deserves it. I really wanted to see Hinrich on the team though

Anyway I agree, if Hinrich doesn't play for the US National Team that means he'll be fresh this fall. I'm hoping for improvement now that he has more options to turn to.

i dont care if hinrich is on team usa. im a bulls fan first. So him getting rested for our 82 games is okay with me. but one thing that they will be missing at pg is a lockdown defender.

I rather have Hinrich not make the team because he would most likely rot on the bench while if he got cut he could train like he always does in the off-season.

Although, it's a great accolade to look back upon once your career is over (from a players perspective), as a fan of a franchise you really kind of hope the player doesn't make the cut so that he won't be worn down when the season starts. This is a pleasing in disguise for the Bulls.
