<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Speaking of value, one of my many conversations in Salt Lake City centered on the value of another Stoudamire ? Salim. The third-year shooting guard would appear to be the odd man out in a backcourt playing rotation that now includes a rookie guard (Acie Law IV) that can swing between both the point guard and shooting guard positions. But I was told that to assume anything regarding Stoudamire would be a mistake. In a league where shooters have always been valued above and beyond any other specialist, Stoudamire?s the Hawks? deadliest pound-for-pound (or should I say minute-for-minute?) threat. Figuring out how to use him falls on the coaching staff. They?ll have some tough decisions to make about how to utilize this guy. But there?s no doubt the Hawks need another outside shooter to help take some of the scoring pressure off Joe Johnson. Stoudamire and Hawks coach Mike Woodson have to find some common ground in their relationship (which was considerably better after the February trade deadline compared to what it was before that time). I dig Salim?s free spirit and his attitude toward the game, dude is a perfectionist and strives for such when he?s on that floor. I admit he?s one of my favorite cats, quirks and all, on this team the past two years. I sat out the deadline with him in February and witnessed his anguish. He wasn?t sure what was going to happen, if he was going to be traded or not. But he vowed that day, when it finally hit him that he wasn?t going to be traded, that he was going to play his guts out no matter what happened. And if you go back and study the remainder of his season that?s exactly what he did.</div>

Aaahhh man, I feel for the guy. It's true, he can become virtually unstoppable any given day, tremendous scorer. But yeah, now we have Acie Law IV, Speedy Claxton, Tyronne Lue, Anthony Johnson, and him....pretty big logjam just like the one we have in Houston - Steve Francis, Mike James, Rafer Alston, Luther Head, Aaron Brooks, John Lucas III...

Keep him, that is what I say. He is a great shooter, can shoot the lights out any day. I hope that if he does get relesed or traded it will be a team to the west, where he can shoot the lights out there and not here.

I don't see the Hawks letting go of Salim Stoudamire. I would be very surprised if they did.
His shooting touch is invaluable, and even more each year he spends in the L working on his shot and being ready to drain buckets whenever called.

Am I the only one who thinks that Stoudamire plays like a complete prick everytime he steps on the court? Everytime I see him touch the ball its an automatic heave from beyond the arc. I was pretty disgusted by the way he played every Hawk game I saw him in.

He is still raw. He was told to shot in college, and it is his game. He is a good shooter, and is working hard to revive his game. I just hope he can stay in Atlanta, and become a better player.

He's like Eddie House, I'm not sure why everyone is saying keep him as if he's going to do something for them. It would also be nice if he could at least defend PG's well, then you could pair him up with a big PG as a SG, and it'd be okay, but he can't.

His shooting touch doesn't do much if he's never on the court, so why not try and snag a 2nd round pick for him or something. It's not like if he becomes a free agent, Atlanta is going to want to sign him back really badly.

The guy is selfish, let's not kid ourselves, he's not looking to do anything but shoot. He get's his assists because he couldn't find a shot, he has a horrible assist rate, and does nothing else but shoot on the floor.

Master Shake, I don't understand you saying he's raw. Salim wasn't a potential guy, he was a what you see is what you get. It's not like he has athletic ability that could allow him to become a good defender, or good penetrator, no, he doesn't. He's a sick shooter with range, and that's it, he's like a worse version of Eddie House.

Allright, which team would Salim Stoudamire best be suited to play with and help out(if not the Hawks)? I can't help but think a lottery team could use him for a couple years.

He would be a perfect fit on the warriors, and we can always use more another shooters.

Actually-the Warriors have so many SG/3 shooting types he'd be way low on the depth chart. Unless it was sort of the aftermath of some deals that thinned the GSW backcourt-there's not much chance.
