<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A freeway bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis has collapsed, sending many cars into the water. The entire span of the 35W bridge collapsed about 6:05 p.m. where the freeway crosses the river near University Avenue. Traffic in both directions was affected. Tons of concrete have collapsed and people are injured.Survivors are being carried up the riverbank. The entire span of the Interstate 35-West bridge collapsed shortly after six p.m. Central Time. Some people are stranded on parts of the bridge that aren't completely in the water. A large truck is on fire at the collapse scene. Much of the bridge is in the Mississippi River. Cars are crushed under the debris and some who survived the fall are swimming in the water. At least one vehicle, believed to be a semi- truck, is on fire. Pieces of the bridge are on the parkway, which was filled with bikers and pedestrians. Bumper to bumper traffic and road construction were slowing things down and all of the sudden the bridge collapsed said a man who was in that traffic around 6:45. Medical personal from around the city is arriving on the scene, but there so many people injured. </div> http://www.13wmaz.com/news/national_story.aspx?storyid=41668 Check out the pictures on the link, pretty crazy.

Pretty crazy yeah, three people now officially pronounced dead. More here: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MINNEAPOLIS - The entire span of an interstate bridge over the Mississippi River collapsed during evening rush hour Wednesday, sending vehicles, tons of concrete and twisted metal crashing into the water. The Interstate 35W bridge, which spans between Minneapolis and St. Paul, was under construction when it broke into several huge sections. It was not clear how many people were injured. A burning truck and a school bus clung to one slanted slab, while at least eight cars and a truck were submerged in the river. The bus had just crossed the bridge before it crumpled into pieces, and broadcast reports indicated the children on the bus exited out the back door. </div> <div align="center">Source: Yahoo! Wow. I've been irrationally scared of bridges since I saw film of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapsing - Invalid Video Link This news just reaffirms my paranoia.
<div class="quote_poster">AirJordan Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Im sure this is KG related.</div> Haha, as inappropriate as that is, that's funny. Poor Minnesota. Nothing's going right for them these days.

Imagine just being on the bridge and it collapses like that. I cross bridges all the time and never even think about it ever collapsing randomly like that.
Anyone here from Minnesota? How is it like? I know over here in South Ontario we cross the Ambassador Bridge to get to Detroit (btw, Windsor is more south of America than a lot of US States, so we're very influenced by the US) and for something like that to happen here would be just devastating to the economy. Sorry for the KG joke, I couldn't pass it up. Minnesota has been through a lot lately. BTW theres a baseball game going on right now and Minnesota is up 3-2 over Kansas City (thats a good thing), and Minny is home, so is that going to be a problem for the fans?

(I was living in Detroit at the time though... Grosse Pointe, to be specific... my parents were just over the bridge when my mom went into labor...) It's a great city though. It's like Detroit, except for some reason when you cross that bridge you lose the homeless people, abandoned houses, and gangs.
I've been so desensitized by the media, that I just turned my head and felt nothing when I saw this after I walked into the house after work. Pretty sad.
I drive over that Tacoma Narrows bridge all the time and I think about that every single time. The Minnesota one is nuts though.
I was born in Iraq but I've lived in Windsor for like 12 years. You're right its a nice city, similar to Detroit, but I gotta say, I like the prices in Detroit better Also, big additions to Casino Windsor are being done was we speak.

<div class="quote_poster">AirJordan Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">So 6 people died so far?</div> 6 dead, and 30 people missing are the latest reports.
Talk about some crazy ****. It's things like this that make me glad I'm in Iowa, where bridges are at a minimum. I've been seeing pictures of this everywhere recently. It was on local news and it was even on ESPN for the love of god.

But still for something that big to collapse like that...it's pretty wild. My condolences to the victims' families. Hope you Minneapolis residents here on JBB are all OK.
At first they thought it was terrorist related. That's insane. I saw the clip of the video and what it looks like now. I think a lot of people are dead.
