I have no details about it, but Barcelona (the team of procedence of Gasol and Navarro) confirmed it this morning. A great news i think. A great player. No doubt. The notice in spanish: EL CLUB CATAL?N LO CONFIRM?

No doubt.</div> I guess he's a slight upgrade over Tarence Kinsey at the two-guard position, but he's really undersized at the end of the day for a two, so much so that he's probably not going to see any floor time. Apparently this is just a move to keep Pau happy.
YES! I have no idea what these means, but it sounds good. lol. He should be good in Memphis. But like VC said, he is a bit small, and how much playing time he will get is most likely very little.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm hearing that all sides have agreed in principle to a deal that would send Juan Carlos Navarro's NBA rights from Washington to Memphis in exchange for a lottery protected first round pick. Paperwork with Navarro's Spanish team, Barcelona, needs to be finished and the NBA has to review the deal as well to make things official (I hear that is why the "deadline" was pushed back). As details come in, I'll update.</div> Link
voodoo child, i hate barcelona team, but i have no doubt navarro is the best player in europe actually. a fantastic SG. U will see it this year. mastershake: navarro had with barcelona a 13$ millions penalty if he leave the team. yesterday (friday) expired the time barcelona gives navarro for going cheaper to nba. that means those words. 30 minutes each match. not less than 20. u'll see.
<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> This should put all the Gasol rumors to rest. Where does this leave Mike Miller though?</div> I think the question should be the other way around. No one in management could possibly look at Navarro as their #1 priority over Miller, probably not even #2 over Kinsey. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">voodoo child, i hate barcelona team, but i have no doubt navarro is the best player in europe actually. a fantastic SG. That leaves anywhere from 8 to 13 minutes to be split between Navarro and Kinsey, and keep this in mind: Tarence Kinsey was #2 in the NBA in mpg in April, averaging 42.7 mpg (compared to Kobe Bryant's 42.5, LeBron James' 40.1, Pau Gasol's 35.8, etc.). Not to mention that Marc Iavaroni has expressed interest in a Lowry - Conley, Jr. backcourt. If either sees any minutes at shooting guard, you can forget about Navarro. If I had to guess, I'd say Navarro averages between 8 and 10 mpg, barring an injury to one of the other backcourt players.
navarro isn't worst than mike miller. We will see in a near future. Maybe u'll use Navarro as 6th man (replacing miller and gay, but always as SG)

I really really really doubt Navarro ever gets time over him. Gay is a phenomenal talent and going to be a great player, he doesn't even play the same posistion(s) as Navarro so that shouldn't be an issue. But either way, as an impact player for the Grizzlies, Gay > Navarro.

Maybe u'll use Navarro as 6th man (replacing miller and gay, but always as SG)</div> What the hell? Have you ever seen Mike Miller play? He's arguably the best player on the team. Last season Miller posted 18.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 4.3 apg on 41% shooting from downtown. Navarro didn't put up close to those numbers in a much more watered down Spanish League. Navarro got by as a 6'3" shooting guard in Spain, but that's not going to work over here, especially with what Navarro lacks in athleticism. Defensively, he was an average defender at best in Europe. Every time I saw him, he had good technique, but he was defending players who were about his size or smaller, and he tended to take posessions off. He'll get out muscled and blown by time and time again if he decides to play shooting guard on the NBA level. If he decides to run the point, he won't get any playing time. It's as simple as that. I think you're forgetting the fact that Mike Miller's one of the top five shooters in the game today, and you're forgetting the fact that he's a legit 6'8", 218 lbs., whereas Navarro is only 6'3". Everyone underrates the guy, but he's the most well-rounded player on our current roster and was apparently good enough in the eyes of the Team USA selection committee to earn a roster spot amongst the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He's a player in the same mold. He just never gets the respect for being the well-rounded, athletic wing he is for a few reasons. For one, he's on the Grizzlies. For another, he's white, so people automatically give him the labels of "slow and unathletic," which he's anything but. He also just broke out of the ten man rotation and started getting consistent burn this past season. Beforehand, he was burried in a roster that included the likes of James Posey (in his prime), Eddie Jones, and Shane Battier. Next season, as the Grizzlies win more games and Miller gets his name out there more, he's got legitimate All-Star potential. Here's the rotation, no questions about it - PG - Kyle Lowry / Mike Conley, Jr. / Damon Stoudamire SG - Mike Miller / Tarence Kinsey / Juan Carlos Navarro That's realistic. Just because Navarro was a star over in the Euroleague, it doesn't mean he'll be one over in the states. Just look at Sarunas Jasikevicius and Arvydas Macijauskas.
