<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Mavericks strengthened their depth at shooting guard and small forward Friday, agreeing to terms on a two-year deal with veteran swingman Eddie Jones. Owner Mark Cuban confirmed the pending deal with the unrestricted free agent. Jones, 35, is expected to fly to Dallas on Monday where he'll take a physical and officially sign. He'll receive $1.83 million in the first year from the Mavericks' bi-annual exception. The team still has its $5.3 million mid-level exception to use for another free-agent acquisition. Donnie Nelson, the Mavericks' president of basketball operations, declined comment until the deal is official. Jones (6-6, 200 pounds) is a three-time All-Star who has averaged 15.4 points per game in 13 NBA seasons. Throughout his career, he's been considered an excellent outside shooter and defender. </div> Source: Dallas News
I'm not sure what to think of this signing. I mean I'm happy we got him cheap, but if he's the only guy we go after in this free agency and completely forget about Webber,PJ Brown, or James Posey. I'll be disappointed.
<div class="quote_poster">CLos Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Good signing but I thought Webber was priority #1.</div> They can still go after Webber with the MLE. Jones just got the bi-annual exception. As far as talent goes, this is a good signing. Eddie Jones still has three or four years left in him until retirement. Even if he just plays 10-15 mpg, his long range shooting will be a valuable commodity. As far as their depth chart goes, this signing doesn't make much sense. I wonder if they're going to make another move, because just look at how stacked their are on the wing - SG - Jason Terry / Eddie Jones / Maurice Ager / Greg Buckner SF - Josh Howard / Jerry Stackhouse / Devean George / Reyshawn Terry It looks like Buckner and Terry won't see the light of day this season, if Terry even makes the final roster that is.

But as for Buckner, last time i checked he was on the trading block. And many teams were interested. I wonder if will still go after Matt Barnes or Mikael Pietrus? I mean if Dallas really wanted one of the two why didnt we do a sign and trade with Austin Crocherre? Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have PJ Brown or C-Webb then those two, but just seems strange we didnt get somethin out of Crocherre. And with this signing whats the future for James Posey? He's a good player but essentially just another wing player on this crowded lineup.

I really hope we don't go through with this reported Webber signing.

I meant that since he left it was warmer, now with old Jones, Howard and Terry will have to put their coats back on, because Jones will need it below zero.
