<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ryan Gomes scored 12.1 ppg and grabbed 5.6 rpg in 73 games for Boston last year, and is generally acknowledged to be one of the classiest cats in the league. Overlooked in the 2005 NBA Draft (50th overall) much like Craig Smith in the 2006 Draft, Gomes will be a pleasant surprise to Minnesota fans who have yet to become familiar with his talents.

We pulled the Providence College graduate aside when he dropped into town preceding the scheduled press conference for Wednesday, August 1.</div>

There is a whole interview with him in the link, I suggest T'Wolves fans give it a read.

And with this, I kind of doubt the rumors of the Wolves waiving him.

I have always really liked him and was ticked when the celtics grabbed him in the second round. Well not ticked but i wanted us to have him. The only problem is he is the 3rd-4th string pf and like 5th string sf on this roster. He won't beat out Craig Smith and Al Jefferson so, unless Jefferson plays a lot of center I don't see him getting the minutes he deserves. Maybe we can trade him and Jaric for some cap relief or draft pick or something.

Yeah. Those were my thoughts exactly. He is a solid player, but he's going to have to play behind quite a few people in both postions he can potentially play. Unless Jefferson plays center, and/or Ricky and Jaric get traded, he won't see much unless it's from the side lines.

Jefferson at Center and Smith at PF would be uber. It would give Gomes a nice role off the bench as the first big man.

They need to get what they can for Blount and Davis. Ricky Davis will think he's Mr.Superstar now, and he'll hinder the development of the other young wing players. Howard definitely doesn't fit in at all.

They need to shape out this roster

    PG: Foye/Telfair/Jaric
    SG: Davis/Green
    SF: Hassell/Brewer/Gomes
    PF: Jefferson/Smith/Howard/Gomes/Madsen
    -C: Blount/Jefferson

    Yeah...that's kinda a mess.

I don't want to be one of "those" guys, who goes around arguing about minutia, but I think that this rotation has more balance than the one you projected -

    <font color="black">PG - Randy Foye / Sebastian Telfair / Marco Jaric</font>
    <font color="black">SG - Trenton Hassell / Gerald Green / Marco Jaric / Randy Foye</font>
    <font color="black">SF - Ricky Davis / Corey Brewer / Ryan Gomes / Gerald Green</font>
    <font color="black">PF - Al Jefferson / Craig Smith / Mark Madsen / Ryan Gomes</font>
    <font color="black">C - Mark Blount / Juwan Howard / Al Jefferson</font>

Hassell usually plays the bulk of the two, whereas Davis is almost exclusively a three with the Wolves. Jaric, on the other hand, hasn't played nearly as much point since Foye was drafted. He's a pretty solid wing off the bench though. Howard can also play center minutes, like he did last season when Ming was out.

Either way, it's a bit of a moot point, because this team is headed straight to the lottery regardless of who plays where this season.

The more important rotation is their rotation a year or two from now -

PG - Randy Foye / Sebastian Telfair
    SG - O.J. Mayo / Gerald Green
SF - Corey Brewer / Ryan Gomes
PF - Al Jefferson / Craig Smith
C - FA signed with Ratliff's cap relief or a young player traded for in a Ricky Davis deal

    PG Foye
    SG Green
    SF Brewer
    PF Beasley
    -C Jefferson

    FTW!

You both forgot about McCants. He is easily our best 3-point shooter right now and has tons of potential to be a great defender. I think he will be playing over Green at least at the start of the season

Yeah, I forgot about McCants in the depth chart, but playing over Green? That's just overrating him to prove a point. Green lacks a scorer's mentality and is too comfortable just hanging around the perimeter and not taking it strong to the rim, but a timid Green is still better than an aggressive McCants on any day of the week.

I don't see where McCants has great defensive potential either. He's only 6'4" on a good day with a wingspan just over 6'10" and a standing reach just over 8'7". Just because he's got a quick first step and high vertical leap doesn't mean he'll be able to keep in front of his opponents defensively either. He actually tested very low in the lane agility drills at the 2005 draft combine, which is a measure of lateral quickness, the most important physical attribute to have for a defender. Not to mention that since then he's been battling injuries. Those had to have slowed him down a bit too.

^^Idk, Mccants missed all of last year after a rookie year where he showed some good stuff. I didn't know anything about the lane slide thing, but he has long arms and is very physical. His rookie year he always got fouls and stuff for being too aggressive on D. He was getting in front of his man just fine. I guess I haven't seen enough of Green lately but I am sure Mccants is a better shooter and is more aggressive and confident. I am just assuming the way we had summer league that Mccants is going to be getting plenty of minutes this year, at least at the beginning of the year to test out his new knee.

Idk, I still think he will be ahead of him at the beginning of the year like I said before. I would assume that Green is not a better defender despite his size and Mccants just seems to have that swagger about him that I think he is going to approve a lot with a full healthy season.
