<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Akron Beacon Journal:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Cavs have spoken to a number of free-agent point guards, but have been reluctant to sign any. They are looking for a starter-quality point guard; those players are only available by trade at this point. They also don't want to bring in a player who would stunt the growth of guard Daniel Gibson. They looked into the availability of Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro, whose rights seem close to being traded from the Washington Wizards to the Memphis Grizzlies. The latest free agent whom the Cavs have contacted with some interest is Troy Hudson, whose $12 million buyout of his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves became official Friday. Hudson, a 10-year veteran who averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 assists last year, would play for the NBA minimum and is interested in coming to the Cavs. </div> Akron Beacon Journal This would be an interesting move for the Cavs, but I feel that in a year when Brevin Knight and, potentially, Mike Bibby were available, it is a real step down for the team to end up with just Troy Hudson. It would be a decent move that would definitely enable Boobie Gibson to get his fair share of PT, but it would still be a let-down for Cavs fans.

He's good at one thing, knocking down open shots, and if the defenses aren't doubling LeBron like they were in the playoffs last year, Gibson is neutralized and the Cavaliers suffer as a result. It's better to have a point guard capable of dictating the tempo and setting up his teammates. If Hudson were signed, I'd like to see a backcourt rotation of - PG - Troy Hudson / Eric Snow / Damon Jones SG - Larry Hughes / Shannon Brown / David Wesley / Daniel Gibson SF - LeBron James / Ira Newble
Shannon Brown and David Wesley over Gibson? I know your a huge SB fan, so I can sense a little bias there, and David Wesley getting more PT than Gibson is laughable.

What does bias have to do with anything? Well, I guess bias from Mike Brown and LeBron James is technically the reason that Shannon Brown didn't play last season. "The first three days of March were a perfect microcosm of an imperfect season for Cavaliers’ sophomore guard, Shannon Brown. After playing a combined total of four minutes in January and February, Brown was inserted into the Cavaliers’ March 1 showdown with the powerhouse Mavericks in Dallas. The uber-athletic combo guard from Michigan State responded in his brief seven-minute stretch – scoring five points in seven minutes, including a clutch three-pointer. The very next night, Brown remained in the Southwest, playing a game for the Cavaliers’ NBDL team in Albuquerque. One night later, the 25th overall pick in the 2006 Draft was back with the Cavaliers for a home game against the Raptors at The Q. In the third night of his back-to-back-to-back, he responded with the best game of his short NBA career – going off for 14 points in 13 minutes, including a perfect 3-for-3 shooting display from beyond the arc. Brown put together three more nice games in the middle of March, but didn’t score again in 2007. " ^^^That's just bullshit, no matter how you slice it. Brown was given the chances, he thrived, and the bias of Brown and James kept him saddled on the bench. Like I said in my first post, Gibson has no point guard skills whatsoever. He's a 6'0" shooting guard who doesn't play defense. He did so well in the playoffs for one simple reason - he can hit open shots. He's a great shooter, especially when you leave the kid wide open, but when the double teams aren't coming on LeBron, Gibson is neutralized and useless. You sound like a bandwagonning casual fan, only seeing what's spoonfed to you. Anybody who has seen them both play will tell you that Brown is far ahead of Gibson in terms of skill, development, and physical attributes, which is funny, because that's the only thing that kept Brown out of the lottery, his lack of height, yet the Cavs were willing to overlook Gibson's and play him. Mike Brown is the worst coach in the NBA.
Brown>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gibson Give Brown the time! What makes me kinda angry was he only averaged only 3.2 PPG this year...how? He can score with ease. He is so athletic, like Tony Allen with a jumper almost. Before Allen was injured. He has strength, body control, tenacity and outstanding vertical leap. He shot 39% from behind the arc as a junior and he is a very good passer for a SG. ( He can actually play the PG position, a type of Baron Davis strength.) He is always in his opponents grill and dictating where he wants to go. He is very easy to coach, and is a good guy overall. Some things I want to see him work on, past his major athleticism is his mid range jumper. He can go past his man, or pull up for a 3, but I never really saw him make his own space and hit a mid range shot, which I want to see him get. Being 6'3 he is in between sizes, but is so explosive, that once he can develop his mid range shot, wow, watch out. He just needs to be consistent. One night he is amazing, the next, silent. He is a very in you face defender, which I like. Just one thing that stood out to me to prove a theory of his inconsistency, is the game against George Mason. 5 points, 2/11 and he fouled out, not a Shannon Brown night. Here are some stats from his Junior Year: 17.2 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.5 steals and 2.7 assists compared with 2.5 turnovers. He shots a solid 47% from the field, 39% from behind the arc, and 83% from the free throw line. Solid stats, all across the board, he just needs the chance. I just hope Mike Brown can see this and play him a lot at the SG position. PLAY HIM MIKE BROWN!!!
