I'm going to be posting a player prediction thread for every single player on the Magic. I'll post a new player every couple of days. What we are going to do is predict the role of the player, the amount of minutes, and his statistics.

    Role:
    Minutes:
    Statistics:
    Additional Comments:

    ------------------
    First up, Tony Battie
Last Season Role: Starting PF, started 66 out of his 66 games.
Last Season Statistics: 24 mpg, 6.1 ppg 5.2 rpg on 48% shooting

Role: Defensive minded starting PF, but best suited as first big coming off the bench.
Minutes: 20, mainly at PF, but some minutes while Dwight is resting at C.
Projected Statistics: 5 ppg 4 rpg on 46% shooting in 71 games.

If the current roster stays the same I see Battie as our starting pf averaging 32-35mins 9 pts 8 rbs 45% shooting

Role: Should be backup depending on what else happens this offseason but he might start.
    Minutes: 20-25
    Statistics: 6pts/4rbs/47% shooting
Add. Comments: I like him because he's a solid defensive vet. However, I don't like the fact that he could start this season.

We are in deep trouble if Battie avgs 32-35 mpg. How many games do you see him playing if we play him 32-35 minutes? I think we will see a lot of small ball with either Shard/Ariza/Hedo playing PF at times and I'm just praying that either Gortat or Augustine can make enough improvement and give us a solid 10-15 minutes a night so that Battie doesn't have to play such big minutes and risk an injury.

I think Battie is pretty durable I say about 70 games. I think if he does start he will have a role simular to Deshawn Stevenson's when he was here.................don't take alot of shots and play solid defense I think he is capable of that.

Role: Starting PF, might lose his starting job as the season goes on and Gortat/Augustine might take over.
    Minutes:20-26mpg
    Statistics: 6.4ppg, 5rpg, 47% shooting
Additional Comments: I remember reading something saying that he didn't mind giving up his starting role for the younger guys, that's good to hear considering it might happen. He has a good attitude.
