There will be no excuse to not get this done if the deal lets us keep Odom. It's like giving Mitch cheat answers on a test and still fails.</div> LMAO Great analogy! Fire up the Magic Wand Mitch! Send them Farmar and another 1st round pick to close the deal. We can win with Kobe-Odom-O'Neal right now and continue to add pieces to the mix.
Do it Mitch! I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't mind giving up Odom. I'm not down with giving up both Odom and Bynum though, at least not unless Indiana also adds in Granger. And definitely not down with parting with Javaris Crittenton. Everyone else except Kobe is expendable IMO.

They'd be really really dumb to do that trade, because the only person that they really get of value talent wise is Bynum. Farmar is at best a backup PG, IMO. Yes they get Kwame, but getting Vladimir without giving up any of their other players basically cancels out, because they won't be able to use any of that cap space at all. It looks much better for the Lakers, but in order to get a star player you are more than likely going to have to give up Bynum and Crittenton with expiring contracts.
<div align="center"> </div> LOS ANGELES -- While standing at midcourt Sunday, Jermaine O'Neal is feted by kids in purple-and-gold jerseys, mobbed by media, and wooed by celebrities like Brandy and Snoop Dogg. For the Pacers' power forward, this is a taste of life as a baller in L.A. And O'Neal wants more. He wants to be a Laker. Speaking at Baron Davis and Paul Pierce's annual L.A. Stars charity basketball game at USC's Galen Center, O'Neal says he'd like for Indiana to trade him to L.A. "It's time for me to move on," he said. "And the Lakers are the team I want Indiana to trade me to." SOURCE: ESPN

I was contemplating this about Jermaine O'Neal. He's gone on the record saying he'd like to play in Los Angeles and make a run at it with Kobe. It would be great to trade for him, but what if the Lakers simply wait a season and wait for JO to opt out of Indiana instead? If he really wants to come to LA, he should take a discount so the Lakers can afford to surround Kobe and JO with the right role players. What ever money can't get in salary, JO can make it up in endorsements.
you never know what will gona happen till next year, i dont think he is gonna take a pay cut, if a star player is avaliable go get him!! if this deal goes through without giving up odom, it would be great!!!
And the never ending saga takes another twist. Really the entertainment is great and seriously, practically I should say, never ending. It'll be interesting to see IF this trade happens, and by what means the Lakers have to go to obtain JO. We saw somewhat of a new precedent for this years trading in the KG trade. So at the very least you know what the best of stars goes for. JO is obviously less however so we'll see.
I think this is a long time coming. With all the rumors that were swirling around him being traded and him claiming he wanted to be here, I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. Regardless, I'm still in the thought that our management is too damn stupid to pull off a deal. They look at Bynum way too highly and not wanting to part ways with him is probably what might kill this deal. Beyond that, I've stated this before, the only way I even want this deal to happen is if we don't trade Odom. Trading him is going to be a step back in opinion, unless we have a way to land Artest in the process.

Basically, trade Odom if get receive Artest. Trade Bynum for JO even though people are so highly on Bynum. That way, Kobe=happy.
