The 6-foot-11-inch, 265-pound Pollard got a one-year deal believed to be worth the veteran minimum ($1.2 million for 10 years service). </div> http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce...on+Celtics+news - Boston Globe
Well, he knows he will get minutes. KG won't be playing 48 now. I think he can be productive, but for what he got, that is good. I just wish they Celtics spent more money on a better back-up PG, because, While I think Rondo, could be a great defensive PG, to a point, they need someone with vet experience, I hope they still get Hudson, that would be sweet.
<div class="quote_poster">The One & Only Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">This was a very bad signing imo. Scot Pollard? Over all the other free agents left? Sheesh.</div> Well, I assume that no other FA wanted the Vets minumum, and Scott Pollard would sell his own mother to play more then 30 seconds a game, so good for him, and for the Celtics, they didn't lose a lot of money.
He's not really a power forward, he's a backup C, and remember teams can sign as many players as they want to the minimum salary, of course without exceeding 15 players, but Boston isn't going to cry about a 1 year minimum salary. They can waive him even if they don't like him anymore. Also the league gives the team back money above the two year minimum amount, so his salary would only count for $700,000 $800,000.

If he can stay healthy, it's not a terrible signing. Pollard can do the dirty work in the post because he likes to mix it up and can draw charges.
Now is the time you trade him, Rondo, Perkins, Davis, House and future 1st round picks for the next 10 years for Kobe and Odom! PG - Pierce SG - Allen SF-Kobe PF-Odom C-Garnett It's over, best team in the east. Then you sign guys who will take pay like 20 bucks a game, who know they Celtics will win a championship. Hell, I would ask for a Jersey of ever starter on the Celtics, and sit there on the bench, just so I could get a ring.

I guess Mutombo turned the Celtics down. They reportedly offered him the LLE. Maybe he wants more than that, and the Celtics still have a shot of getting him with part of their MLE.

He said earlier he was going to play with Houston or retire so hes probably sticking by it. This isn't a bad signing for the Celtics though, I would imagine Powe will be the first big man off the bench playing at PF while KG or Perkins play C but Pollard can contribute when necessary, rebound, hustle, play defense, give you another big body and 6 more fouls for guys like Shaq, Curry, Howard, etc.
He gets to play the 6. That's an inside joke, and an homage to postpoint. And who gives a crap? He will not play a meaningful minute all year. I'd rather Scal when it counts.
