After five seasons in Miami, Jones got traded and the next season the Heat won the title. On Monday, the 6-foot-6 veteran guard-forward chose his own destination and officially joined the Mavericks as a free agent. Jones hopes this time around his timing is right. "That's the reason I want to play another season because I want to win," Jones said. "I missed out on two [titles]. I just want one. I just want to win one and say, 'You know what, I did win a championship in my 14-, 15-year career. At least one." -- Fort Worth Star-Telegram</div>

Dang. This guy lost out on the Lakers Championship and the Miami title. Talk about some bad luck. But hey third times the charm. right? [IMG]

Nick Van Exel had the same problem though. Eddie Jones is really a great adition to the Mavericks squad, they're kind of short on veterans on that team. Josh Howard, Terry and Devin Harris are all pretty young guys. Although I am pretty sure Dirk has played more playoff games than Eddie Jones...

Grandpa Jones? He should be alright, but I don't see a big role for him. Unless he starts to always light it up from downtown, which he can do, but I doubt it will happen. Isn't he older then Avery?

Avery Johnson is like 42. Eddie Jones is 35.

Jones is also far from "grandpa". He's still a big-time three point shooter and provides some veteran leadership. Playing time will be hard to come by though with Jerry Stackhouse ahead of him on the bench.

I`m suprised he left Miami in general.

Hopefully he can get a ring with Dallas.
