" Reggie Miller says he is contemplating a return to the NBA, this time with the Boston Celtics. Miller, who turns 42 on Aug. 24, played his entire 18-year career with the Indiana Pacers before retiring in 2005. Since his playing days ended he has worked as a television analyst for TNT. Miller was all set to continue that job when Celtics general manager Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers asked him to think about joining their revamped team in a reserve role, playing about 15 minutes per game. I'm not sure I understand. Call me jaded, call me cynical, but what the hell is Reg going to do for this team? Aside from getting two guards into foul trouble all night?
I always liked Reggie and wanted to see him win a ring. But I don't think the Celts are a good fit. We're already stacked at the 2 and 3 and I'm not sure how good a shape he could be in. Granted last game he played he had 27 points and went 11 for 16, but with Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Tony Allen, and the others I don't think so. Last time I checked we still needed another PG.
First Larry Bird destroys the Pacers, now Reggie will bring his no-ring curse to the Celtics? I wouldn't mind seeing Reggie suit up again, but not for the Celtics, that just unnatural.
This would just be an absolutley pointless move, aimed at simply trying to cheat Reggie a ring. I wish Ainge would show this much enthusiasm in acquiring a backup point who can actually run the floor.
hey maybe they could call up pippen and shawn kemp, now any vet pg with 15 to 20 years of experience and at least two years of retirement available? mmnn... Don't do it reggie it will screw up your legacy
Reggie is just going to sit his a$$ in that bench and only play 5 minutes. He could give the team water....
I hate when atheletes do this. Whether it be Michael or Reggie...WHY DO IT? Don't **** up your legacy. And IF you're going to come back for a ring, do the smart thing and join the top 4 teams in the West, perferably the Spurs. How wierd would it be if Miller came back and was somehow on the Knicks?

Getting Reggie off the bench for an offensive spark wouldnt hurt. I think he can still play and the Celtics need some depth so why not.

Reggie Miller was horrible in his last season with the Pacers, I doubt he can do any better seeing how long he has been out of the game. Not to mention he is not getting any younger. He is done. There are better options out there for the Celtics to improve their depth

But you're right, maybe he didn't have a horrible season, but I fail to see how he will help this Boston Celtics team at all. I personally think he is done. Also, wasn't Reggie Miller criticizing Karl Malone and Gary Payton for signing with the Lakers because he thought they were taking "the easy way" out to win a championship? If he does sign with Boston, it wouldn't make him look too good...

He's a pretty good defender and I think he'll be more valuable to the Celtics than Reggie Miller, who I think is done. The Celtics should give Patterson a decent look
I think what Reggie can bring besides a veteran presence is an outside shooter for KG when he gets double teamed over in the East....but thats it. Honestly I do want to see him get a ring, but I can't picture Reggie in any jersey besides the Pacers one...so I'm against it

I agree with Brian on Patterson, he is a good defender who can score. He is tough and can play the game well. However, the money he might want, might not be what the MLE gives him.
Name one player who has come out of retirement at age 42 that has been a major contributor on a championship caliber team. This is nonsense. This team needs solid role players that can play both ends of the court. They don't need one dimensional players (which is what Reggie is at this point in his life) who are past their prime. Reggie is a smart man and I imagine that he will remain in the television booth but the fact that Danny Ainge would look into the studios of TNT when looking for free agents is disturbing. There are plenty of players who are capable of contributing on a minimum salary deal. At this point Roger Mason is a hell of a lot better alternative than Reggie Miller. Why sign Eddie House if you are pursuing Reggie Miller? Like I mentioned earlier the free agents that should be targeted are Mike Wilks, Devin Brown, Marc Jackson, and Rafael Araujo. The fact that they didn't even call Mike Wilks is completely foolish.
