RUMORS: Magic Show Interest in Johnson & Evans Several rumors are floating around the web that we're going after Alexander Johnson and/or Reggie Evans. With Johnson, some other teams including Cleveland and Golden State are also pursuing the free agent forward. The rumor about Evans is that Orlando has offered Pat Garrity to Denver for Evans. This makes sense since Denver needs expiring contracts being over the cap and they already have enough big men, especially with Kenyon Martin supposedly ready to make a comeback. Evans didn't play much for the Nuggets this past season but he could be a great rebounder alongside Dwight and would give us another big. Most importantly, it would rid our team of the horrible player that is Pat Garrity. I'll post more information about both of these rumors as it becomes available.
I'd like getting Alexander Johnson more. As a FSU fan and a realist. He's a big solid guy and more importantly he's young. Evans wouldnt be bad either, I suppose with our depleted front court anything would be better than Garrity. I'm just a lil turned off by the whole ball grabbing thing, and I really like what Alexander Johnson has to offer. Plus I'm sure he wouldnt mind coming back to Florida.
I like him more because he's young also. Reggie Evans is a good rebounder though. Sure he grabs other kind of balls but still that was once.
You take Reggie Evans in a heartbeat over Alexander Johnson. Alexander Johnson is basically in the same boat as Gortat and Augustine as very inexperienced. You need someone who has somewhat consistently gotten minutes and has produced in them like Reggie Evans has. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be upset getting Alexander Johnson, because he would be an upgrade over Gortat and Augustine, but if given the choice you gotta go with Reggie Evans, IMO. In the situation that we are in, we already have 2 inexperienced backups, why take a 3rd when you can get someone who at least has some experience? In a perfect world we get them both and don't have to rely on Gortat or Augustine at all.
If we end up managing getting one of them, then I will have a little more confidence in our team, but if we do get them both I will have A LOT more confidence in our chances. It would give us a pretty solid 4 man big man rotation and put that on top of our PG's and wing talent/depth we should be looking pretty good.
Yeah i see your point on getting expierence first in our current situation. What do you guys think about Juwan Howard? He's apparently wanting to be traded. I know he's old, but he's got good size and decent game. And if it doesnt workout he's got a big expiring contract. He kinda reminds me of PJ Brown. (offensively)
Keep Juwan Howard away from Orlando again, IMO. He's a proven loser and he doesn't have much left in him, IMO.
Evans is a guy who can be soild along side Howard. He brings rebounding and toughness which the magic can use. Alexander Johnson, I wouldn't take any time. Boston should get him just because they need some guys off the bench. Evans>>>Johnson
I HATE Juwan Howard. Here's my rankings for potential big men. 1. Chris Webber 2. Reggie Evans 3. PJ Brown 4. Kwame Brown 5. Danny Fortson 6. Alexander Johnson 7. Brian Skinner 8. Juwan Howard

<div class="quote_poster">The Walrus Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Youd rather have Evans over PJ Brown? why?</div> Evans is a very productive rebounder and he would be very solid next to Dwight. Brown seems washed up to me and I can't see him being that effective. Evans is someone who can start now ahead of Battie while I see Brown as a backup behind Tony. Brown brings another veteran and more leadership to the team but I see Reggie being more effective with the minutes he'll be given. Plus, we would have to sign Brown which goes against the cap while to get Reggie, all we have to do is trade Garrity's expiring contract. Losing Garrity is almost as good as getting another big man anyways.
I think it's better to get Reggie Evans because he's a solid rebounder. I really want to get Chris Webber the most.
<div class="quote_poster">Jumpman Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">You guys would be able to get Johnson for much cheaper than Evans wouldn't you?</div> No. Evans isn't a free agent so we would be doing a sign and trade. Here is how we would acquire each player. For Johnson: Signing him to a small contract until he proves himself. For Evans: Trade Garrity's large expiring contract for him. Denver is over the luxury tax and we need a big. It makes sense. Both of these would help our team so if we could pull off both, I'd be very happy.
<div class="quote_poster">CLos Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I like the Evans trade. We get a solid big man and we trade Garrity. What a win-win situation.</div> Yeah I'm beginning to like it more and more. It seems that Brown is goin to Dallas or Phoenix so Evans seems just as good as a pickup. all though Pat Garrity will be missed. Invalid Video Link adios sucka!
