i went back and watched the last 20 games of the regular season and the playoffs on tivo, and boy, what a run it was. they showed so much heart, so much passion, so much will to win and so much love for the game. seeing the team come together like that and become brothers was amazing. everyone picked each other up, stood up for each other, and played for each other. and then obliterating the best team in the league in the playoffs was also amazing. I hope this year's squad can show half of what they showed last year. even though we didnt win a title, it was a season to remember. i dont think i will ever forget it. i had more fun being a warriors fan than i had in a long time. warriors basketball had completely taken over my life for a few months there. and boy am i gonna miss J-Rich. i always envisioned him as a lifelong warrior who stays with the team beyond his playing days and has his jersey hung from the rafters. he was the epitome of what this team is about. seeing him traded was probably my saddest moment as a warrior fan. i know the trade was good for the long haul but i still wanted j-rich to continue tasting this success. but anyways, after re-watching the games, i just wanted to say i love this team. GO WARRIORS!
Lucky you that you tivoed all of those games. All I have is this one tape where the Warriors won game 3 against the Jazz. And i also resort to youtube to check out small clips and films people made but i agree with you 100%. Before their small run I didnt think they were gonna make it because when we kept winning and the clips kept winning. But out of nowhere we made some progress and we were unstoppable. It all happened after we got screwed in the wizards game and from then on the team started to gel. Everyone stepped up and knew that their destination were to be in the playoffs and play against Dallas. Never expected that to come but if anyone could bring us back to the promise land it would have to be Don Nelson. Two more months and basketball season is here..i can't wait!
It's all about chemistry and the matchups, man. If you enjoy playing with your teammates, they generally make each other better because they look for each other and trust guys to take the shots they know they can make. Plus, in terms of matchups, we played the speed game, putting guards as power forwards and small forwards as centers. We had guys faster at positions that the other team could not handle and they could play bigger than their real sizes with out of position rebounding. We couldn't find that in Dunleavy, Murphy, or Foyle because they didn't do enough to work individually or cohesively in an nba halfcourt offense and they didn't do the running game that well. I think also the bottom line was perimeter defense. We had a lot of guys who could play with energy and come up with deflections and force turnovers and that earned us a lot more scoring opportunities and extra shots on goal. The result was we ended up getting fast break points using quick footed players with long arms and extra possessions. We also had the ability to dribble penetrate at many positions, but we were limited to taking a lot of threes because teams would try to crowd the paint with size or with more defenders. If it's the only set shot available, players would rather take the three than move in and be contested on the 18 footer unless there is a guy who can really screen for him. If everyone is moving on offense and they all play the best defense they can do as smaller players, they will win more games than they had with mixed skill players like Troy Murphy who has a face-up game but no defense, natural playmaking ability, or high % offense. Then we had Dunleavy who wasn't good anything at the nba level. And then Foyle who just sucks.
Nelson should proclaim, that W's don't stand a chance to make playoffs after 1st 10 games this season, and we could get top 3 seed Yeah I regret that I delited that season ending, i have only left game 1 and 6 against against Dallas, that I watch when I miss good basketball
I had them all on DVR -- as if I was going to save and re-watch them -- but then I realized that, even though it was a fun stretch, I'd probably never re-watch them again. I'm too busy to watch NEW stuff, let alone re-watch old stuff. If they had won the title, I probably would have kept the games. But they didn't. So I deleted them.
