I think people are too hard on Donaghy. He was in a position to make a quick buck, and who's gonna turn down a buck? Easy money is easy money! Here's to hoping he beats this one.

It's very late, which makes this trolling I've stumbled upon less annoying and more amusing. I guess it's made more amusing by my complete inability to do anything about it.
If NBA ref sings, Stern will hang <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The accuracy of David Stern's description of Tim Donaghy as a "rogue, isolated criminal'' should determine Stern's job status after the worst scandal in NBA history plays out. If the NBA commissioner was indeed correct in identifying the gambling-addicted referee as a single operative – and the hunch bet here is the other way – he might weather the storm and continue his reign. If, though, Stern proves to be wrong about an assertion made in the ugly affair's very early stages, he surely must leave the job with his credibility in tatters. Current reports that Donaghy intends to detail the gambling habits, minor or otherwise, of 20 former workmates in the NBA referees' union have led to much speculation. Doubtless, if Donaghy sings clearly to federal authorities, some admissions will further embarrass and damage the NBA. Director of officiating Ronnie Nunn and executive vice-president Stu Jackson, already looking silly for missing Donaghy's actions for two years – after launching an investigation into his gambling and behavioural issues – surely will pay. </div> Source: The Star

But he is a real piece of dirt and should learn his lesson and take his lumps.

How many flat-screen TVs will a truckload of integrity get ya? How about a down payment on a house? You think they'll accept a check worth all your character and dignity combined? No! They take one thing: bucks. And after fixing games for all those years, Donaghy's got plenty of bucks.

There is something... there is something inherently defective in you, and you, and you, and me, and all of us. We're all lemons. We look like everyone else, but what makes us different is our defect. See, most gamblers, when they go to gamble, they go to win. When we go to gamble, we go to lose. Subconsciously. Me, I never feel better than when they're raking the chips away; not bringing them in. And everyone here knows what I'm talking about. Hell, even when we win it's just a matter of time before we give it all back. But when we lose, that's another story. When we lose, and I'm talking about the kind of loss that makes your asshole pucker to the size of a decimal point - you know what I mean - You've just recreated the worst possible nightmare this side of malignant cancer, for the twentieth goddamn time; and you're standing there and you suddenly realise, Hey, I'm still... here. I'm still breathing. I'm still alive. Us lemons, we **** **** up all the time on purpose. Because we constantly need to remind ourselves we're alive. Gambling's not your problem. It's this ****** up need to feel something. To convince yourself you exist. That's the problem.

I mean I'm not a big fan of Stern that's the only reason I don't completely rip Donaghy here, but let's face it. There's a big difference between making a quick buck and getting hooked on the vice like a drug addict. Also like the other fella said above, there are people who prefer to live their life in integrity and to whom Lamborghini and Flat-Screen TVs (lavish life) are not worth losing their character over.
