Sacto is shopping Bibby again, most recently to Miami. What could the Lakers offer Sac for Bibby and Artest that might get their attention without depleting the Lakers. Bibby is overpriced at 16 mil, but Artest would be a steal at his salary. I know Sac doesn't want to help the Lakers but they are getting desparate to unload old talent. How about this lineup for 08: Bibby Kobe Artest Odom Bynum Would they take Walton, Farmar, Crit, Radman and Kwame?
If only Kurt Rambis was hired, I think our odds would have improved for getting a deal done with the Kings. Rambis would have been able to sell them on taking Luke Walton and some of the other Laker role players. I don't think Bibby is realistic, because the Lakers would have to send out Odom or Bynum for him. I'm not sure if Bibby would be the right fit for this team to begin with. He doesn't play defense and he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. I'd rather go after Ron Artest, like you mentioned he's a steal for the money he makes and it takes a lot of pressure away from Kobe on the defensive end. Kobe will no longer have to guard the opposing teams best wing player. I'm not sure how desperate Sac is to do a deal. They've been interested in Farmar in the past, maybe they'd be keen on Kwame's expiring contract?
<div class="quote_poster">bruin007 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">NO way Sacramento helps us out we are both in the pacific division</div> Depends how they view Ron Artest's mental state. If they feel Ron Artest is headed for a meltdown, trading him to us would hurt the Lakers. You also have to consider the Kings might want to get something back for a player who's likely going to opt out and walk for nothing next summer. Trading Artest to a division opponent would get them the most back. Renting him to the Lakers for a season isn't all that bad, since the Kings are looking lottery bound anyways.
If Bibby goes anywhere its to Miami... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Sacramento Kings have not ruled out the possibility of dealing point guard Mike Bibby, and now view the Miami Heat as a potential partner if it does, according to an NBA official. The Heat would give up Jason Williams, but whether the team would be willing to move forward Udonis Haslem is questionable. Bibby, due $13.5 million and $14.5 million the next two seasons, could be packaged with forwards Kenny Thomas or Shareef Abdur-Rahim.</div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">The Legend Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If Bibby goes anywhere its to Miami... Source</div> Miami is in a tough position with their current situation. Bibby is obviously an upgrade in the backcourt, but let's not forget Miami won the title with a JWill/Payton backcourt. I'm not sure PG is all that important for them, because of the playmaking role Wade has with the team. Haslem on the other hand is a tough replacement for Miami. He does all the intangibles on the court and hides a lot of Shaq's weaknesses. He's still young and should be considered part of their core once they begin rebuilding around Wade. Reef really showed his age last season and Kenny Thomas is very undersized for his position. Riley has never been a fan of tweener forwards. Both these players have toxic contracts on top of declining production. Strengthening your backcourt at the expense of weakening your front court is usually a bad move. I think Miami will continue to try and get Pietrus, re-sign Posey for cheap, or go after Ruben Patterson. At least this means the Kings are likely lottery bound and the Laker should be no worse than 3rd in the division. The Clippers season is over, and trading Bibby would get rid of any chance for Sac to make the post season. Lakers would just have to worry about the Suns and Warriors.
