Recommendation: Riley said Wright or Antoine Walker could start at the three, if the team doesn't pull off a deal for a small forward. The Heat have been looking to add Mickael Pietrus, but sign-and-trade talks with the Warriors hasn't produced a deal. </div>

Wright is the best option we have as of now. Walker is trash and we couldn't sign Kapono, Barnes, Posey or Pietrus (well thus far). Let's just hope that Wright develops into half of the player we were hoping for when we drafted him over Jameer Nelson.

fine by me if wright starts. i know at this point in time, toine might be more talented, but in the longrun giving dorell playing time will make him really good. he could potentially be as good of a role player as haslem. im excited for his future.

    I thought Riley didn't like his attitude?[IMG]

    PG - Smush
    SG - Hardaway
    SF - Wright
    PF - Haslem
    C - Shaq

This is Miami's potential starting lineup on opening night. It's hideous to say the least. With Wade out for a month, Miami could be in serious trouble in the standings. The East has vastly improved from last year, and there's always a possibility Wade suffers a setback during rehab.

Riley must be burning up the phones to get another deal done.

the only thing i change about the lineup you put up shape, is j-will better be starting. i'm assuming he will be. i'm gonna point out all the positives of a starting lineup of williams, penny, dorell, udon, and shaq.
j-will: he is capable of running an offense, shooting the 3, and creating for his teammates.
penny: havent seen him play, so idk. i guess he could surprise his critics and play well.
dorell: young, athletic. he'll be motivated to play well so that he can prove to riley he deserves his playing time. i expect a good 12 points, 6 boards early on from wright.
udon: great role player, competitive, considered by some to be amongst the toughest players on the league.
shaq: when dwyanes not playing, you can be sure he'll want to absolutely dominate. i say he makes a big comeback from his so-so seaosn last year.

of course this all just specualtion, but it is possible. lets hope for the best.

Yeah the Southeast isn't scary but the Hawks and Bobcats are still underrated and Orlando and Washington are still good to win. If Shaq doesn't lead the team, then the Heat might not be able to catch up in the standings when Wade comes back.

I can see Dorell Wright beign a good player in the league one day. He just to me seems like he has all the tools and just needs to learn to use and get experience from playing time. If he leaves Miami after his contract, another version of T-Mac?

The problem with the lineup are all the ifs.

Jason Williams is coming off surgery will be even more of a defensive liability, which puts Shaq and Haslem in positions to get early fouls. The Heat have been actively trying to trade him, and Smush Parker tends to play his best in the preseason. A combination of JWill recovering, lack of support from the organization, and a motivated Smush could cost him his starting job.

Penny Hardaway hasn't played basketball for 2 years. He's a huge question mark, and oddly enough the best option at SG. Not re-signing Eddie Jones is going to cost the Heat while Wade is out big time.

Dorrell Wright, again another big question mark. He hasn't shown any consistency and is still living off the hype of his rookie season performances in the summer league. Riley has a short leash with him, and with Walker on the bench, Wright is going to feel the pressure to not mess up. When you start pressing, you tend to make mistakes and lose confidence in a hurry.

Udonis Haslem is the only solid starter for the Heat.

Shaq can still dominate on occassion, but teams no longer feel the need to double and triple team him. Shaq's age allows him to only produce big games, maybe 1 out of 3 nights. The Heat will need Alonzo to have an impact on the nights Shaq doesn't have it going.
