50 Cent has spoken out on the juicy rap battle which looks set to erupt between himself and Kanye West as they go head to head on the US charts next month.

Both artists are poised for a showdown on September 11th, with 50's "Curtis" and Kanye West's "Graduation" coming out on the same day. West had previously told press how he couldn't wait for the chart battle, and 50 Cent has raised the stakes this week by stating he'll stop performing music if he doesn't sell more records than his counterpart!

"Let's raise the stakes," he said. "If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer (perform) music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums."

"They would like to see Kanye West give me a problem," 50 said, "because I've worked myself into a space where I've become the favorite. Everybody roots [for] the underdog when he goes against the favorite. "And I bet this: When Kanye West's sales come in, he's gonna have a 70% decrease cause Def Jam is gonna buy records [the first week] to keep him closer to 50 Cent. So watch the first week and then watch the second week. Watch his a - drop off the planet."

Kanye West's last album "Late Registration," has shifted 2.8 million to date but 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Tryin'?" went global in a big way, so far selling 8 million.

He adds, "I didn't get one trophy for ?The Massacre.' ... I don't get trophies, I get checks. He gets the trophies. ... And I'll be sitting here like, ?It's cool 'cause I get the check.'?"</div>

Nope, Kanye's release was originally scheduled for September 18th but he moved it up. That's what you're thinking of.

50 doesnt need to rap anymore. He's the ghetto Bill Gates. Got a videogame, clothing line, own movie and got a ton off of Vitamin Water. I would retire from the game If I were him.

Good, because his music sucks these days for the most part.

You guys think 50 is just looking for an excuse to stop rapping?

I mean Skillz said it himself, he doesn't need the money anymore.

got a reliable source stating that? we can't just take your word say "oh okay".

I think 50 is taking a big risk. Kanye has a lot of fans out there. Probably greater than 50. I don't if he can live up those words.

^Yup. I don't here them playing any of 50's song in Hawaii. And they play
that weird beat sounding song Kanye song quite a bit on the radio here.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He also said he won't stop making solo albums even if Kanye West, whose album Graduation is due the same day as Curtis, outsells his LP, as had been reported (see "50 Cent, Kanye Lead Fall Album Rush — Mariah, Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Alicia Keys Follow").

While he called West a talented producer, he also said the Chicago MC is a "worker bee" while he's a "boss." 50 emphasized the importance of album sales, saying that West selling more would mean that "he did a better job than me on his album." </div>

idk i'm very upset, i thought my 13 dollars that was going on graduation would do more than just get me a cd [IMG]... idk i tihnk kanye may outsell him alot of poeple seem to be leaning towards it (hopefully), plus 50's only song that gets airplay is the one with Justin, while i constantly hear Stronger (i listen to the NY stations unless i don't listen enough, but i barly heard amusment park, terible song, i get money gets few spins still not a good song, laughing to the bank barly heard, not a good song) and the first 2 of his cds got constant play especially since hes from NY

Kanye West is a joke as a rapper but a decent producer.

Laugh if you want when I say this, but 50 cent is better than Kanye West at rapping.

Okay, he's popular, commercialized, and maybe a bit fake, but that's everything Kanye West is as well. At least his self-aggrandizing lyrics focus on his struggles in life and not his over-inflated sense of intellectualism like is the case Kanye West.

I know I throw this word around a lot, but Kanye West is the definition of pseudointellectual. He's the reason why the word was created.

They're both terrible and annoying. Makes me want to go buy a copy of Kanye's CD to potentially get one of them out of "the game". I heard on the radio that 50 Cent said that he'd stop making solo albums but would still rap on other artists' tracks.

And 50 didn't "fall off" he made one club hit/dance song and basically complete sh*t after that. People just kept buying into the hype. Kanye is annoying as hell but I'd say hes 10 times the artist, more of a knock on 50 than a compliment to Kanye though.

Kanye West is not a bad rapper, he isn't a great rapper, but he makes great hip hop music. lol at 50 being a better rapper than Ye'. He is not that bad. Since when has Kanye focused on "over-inflated sense of intellectualism" in his music? Your out there with that one. Do you even follow hip hop like that? 50 focuses on his struggles? Fifty gives a f*** about that, dude is all about record sales...Kanye has a genuine love for hip hop as a genre unlike 50, and doesn't make records for just record sales.

They've both built legacies on two separate foundations. 50 cent built his on his stories from the hood, like with his first album. Kanye West built his on false inellectualism, like with "Jesus Walks." Forget that he ripped off movie quotes in that song just as blatantly he rips off classic music for his beats, and that song is still shallow as hell, yet he and the public always inflated it to be so much more than it was, almost as if it was a theologically themed song. And why shouldn't it have been? Rappers are always trying to claim their stake as poets of the urban community. If that's true, take a stance on something deep, don't just give your song a deep title and then write some of the most shallow lyrics on the planet to accompany it.

I could really go on. I really don't want to, but if you want to keep arguing, I can drag this out. The fact of the matter is, I think Kanye West is the fucking antichrist.

So you think Kanye West and his lyrics are more shallow than 50 cent and his lyrics? What songs does 50 Cent even rap about his being from the hood? I don't listen to much of him but the stuff they play on the radio is all party songs about nothing. 50 is no better than any of of the other pop hip-hop trash that comes from the south these days.

Not saying Kanye is any good though...
