Quote:

It may seem a bit early for pundits to start predicting season records, but that has not deterred Al Iannazzone from doing a month-by-month analysis of the Nets' schedule and coming up with a final 46-36 record. Iannazzone admits the roster on August 16 may not be the roster on October 31, and he suggests one issue might be "how Richard Jefferson is mentally after being offered in many trades and in turn not being wanted around the league".
Source
The Richard Jefferson statement could be very true. He was involved in all the trades that we were going to do. That will effect how he plays alot. Whether it be to motivate him and play to a higher level or just discourage him. I think 46 wins is a safe prediction even though I think we are going to finally win 50 this year with a healthy Krstic, Jamaal Magloire, and a more experienced bench.
46 is a very good win total. It is realistic and easily makable. I think the Nets only had 41 wins last year because of injuries and so one. Now with health, better depth, it is all possible. However, how will Kidd comeback from playing with Team USA? Will he be tired, or ready to go?
RJ has always, first and foremost, been concerned about winning basketball games. Maybe he's been wallowing a bit in the offseason, but once everyone gets to camp, it's going to be the same old RJ doing the same old things he's always done to win basketball games. Not worried about his mental state at all.
His knees... that's a different story.

Yeah RJ has always been a professional, and understands the business. I don't see last year's trade talks having any sort of carry-over to next season. The only way you would see noticable differences is if the nets were constantly hammered with realistic trade talks a couple times a month.
Well he was going to be involved in every trade we were going to and we did try. The KG, Jermiane, and Zach Randolph trades were all going in have Jefferson in it.
Well it's safe to say that Zach, and KG aren't being traded and talks with Indiana are dead. While Jefferson might have had a reason to be affected by talks last season, he won't have that problem next year (based on what options will be available). Plus, if last season didn't have a noticable affect, then I doubt less talks would have a larger impact next year.
How could you analyze a schedule and come up with 46 wins in a league where any team can win on any given night?

QUOTE (Real)

How could you analyze a schedule and come up with 46 wins in a league where any team can win on any given night?

Simple: Take a match up like: Nets vs. Hawks -Nets get a win. Nets @ Spurs -Nets Lose. Nets @ Lakers Flip a coin; Tails, then Nets win; Heads, then Nets lose.
I would be pretty happy if the Nets could pull out 46 wins this season. That should be good enough for a 4/5/6 seed.
-Petey

I honestly am curious what Hollinger will predict this season.

On the other hand, he predicted that the Celtics would win the Atlantic in the same article.
