The best thing for the Cavs is to make a trade. League sources said a possible deal for Sacramento point guard Mike Bibby is still on the table, but it will take letting go of Drew Gooden to sweeten the pot.

The Cavs could also make a one player for two deal with the New York Knicks or Dallas Mavericks. The Knicks have 16 players on their roster and the Mavericks have 17. Each team is in need of giving up two for one to reduce their roster.

There's also a wild card in the mix. The Cavs may also conduct some secret workouts to see what's left of former players like Allan Houston and Oakley. Jalen Rose, who spent last season on the bench with Phoenix, could also receive a look. The Cavs still have to decide what to do with restricted free agents Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic. Expect those deals to get completed early next month.

It looks certain that if the Cavs want to get Bibby, they need to deal Gooden. This is a hard decision for Danny Ferry and one which could come back to haunt them. At 29, Bibby will probably have 4 seasons or so left in him at a high standard, after which he ought to dramatically decline. Gooden, however, is 25, so could have at least 8 more seasons in him. Despite this, the PG position is a position that requires filling for the Cavs, else they may be unable to mount serious challenges for the title. And if they fail to do that, they may be unable to keep hold of LeBron James.

If it means getting rid of Gooden, I think that the Cavs must do so, but they must then work hard to get a similar replacement for him, as Varejao's decision making ability is not quite ready for a team looking to win a championship, as his idiocy in the Finals showed.

I think they should pull the trigger on the deal how hard is it to find a PG of Bibby's caliber...Very IMO. He's a great playmaker, can score and he's got range which would help with cleveland's lack of an outside threat. Replacing Gooden will be easier than replacing a player like Bibby would.

I think this is a very easy choice. Bibby is very good point guard and can play second fiddle to Lebron quite well I think. He should be able to score a ton of points with the cavs. Apparently I missed something because last time I saw gooden play he was barely good enough to be a starter.

Mike Bibby playing for Cleveland would be a great addition, considering they have a void at that spot. I don't think the Cavaliers should worry about the 4 years that Bibby would have left because they have already proven that they could get to the NBA Finals without a quality point guard like Bibby.

They'll lose Drew who has many years ahead of him, but they still have Anderson Varejao who gets better and better every year and a veteran in Donyell Marshall that will both pickup the slack in replace of Drew.

I'd say do it. Bibby and James will make a high scoring duo in the East that could get them back in the Finals.

I think Drew Gooden has been a pretty big part of this teams success, and letting him go may actually end up hurting the cavs. Bibby would be a good fit for the cavs, but i dont know about Donyell Marshal or Varejo playing all the minutes at powerforward. Neither can really score in the post. I would like to see Gibson develope his pg skills and take over the starting pg spot, and keep gooden.

I think Gibson is a good backup PG. I think it's better for Varejo to start and sign another PF/C to be a solid backup. Getting Bibby would definitely help the Cavs and especially LeBron.

Another superstar playing with LeBron? Is that fair and allowable in the NBA? All kidding aside, I'm all for that trade.
