i know the league over there. its pretty much a blend of highschool ballers. with a little college players. no one really stands out.
<font face=""Tahoma"">the prof. league in the phils. have some fil-americans players, fil-foreign players which is much better than their homegrown players. even in their national team majority either they grew up in the U.S or study in the U.S</font>
Woot Philippines! Filipino ballers are rough down there. Alot of them are really talented but the problem with all Filipinos is height. If there we were a taller race maybe you'd see more going pro, but naturally we're very small people.
There great players but like said earlier they lack the height but they are great players don't get me wrong.

Asians have big chance of joining NBA ? Kobe 09/05/2007 06:25 PM Manila,Philippines- In a press conference on Wednesday morning at the Shangri-La Plaza in Makati, Bryant said Asia has a lot of talented basketball players that now have a big chance to get into the NBA. "Yao Ming, quite honestly, opened the doors for other Asian basketball players to play in the league (NBA)," Bryant said. "This is very true with that of Yi Jianlian as China's latest import to the NBA." Yi, 19-year-old, 7-foot, 238-pound Chinese center was recently drafted and signed by the Milwaukee Bucks to play in the 2007-08 NBA season. "Just like Yao, Yi is a very talented player," Bryant said. "I haven't seen him personally, but judging from the tapes that I saw when he played against the USA team during the World Championships, I can say he's got what it takes to play in the NBA. Yi has the height, the length and the flexibility to compete and that will be his greatest asset." The possibility of Asian countries dominating the world basketball stage in the next few years is not a farfetched idea, Bryant said. "The sport of basketball in many countries such as Europe and Asia has greatly improved over the last few years," he said. "So the possibility of countries from Asia dominating the world basketball scene will always be there." Asked about his reaction to the recent performance of the USA team which won the recent FIBA-Americas Olympic qualifying tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, Kobe said: "We did pretty well there. We we're able to dominate and do what we want because of the kind of chemistry we have as team. But like I said, there is always room for improvement. We have other players who might be tapped in the Olympics to achieve our goal of winning the gold medal." Bryant himself has just gone through a program of self-improvement, adopting a training and diet regiment that made him lose about 20 pounds in the course of the summer before the 2005-06 NBA season. "I always push myself to the limit to make sure that I can compete 100 percent every single game," he said. "There came a point in time that I almost pass out because of my desire to stay fit and be competitive. I'll do what it takes to win." "Regarding my diet, before I used to eat a lot of sweets and junk food," he added. "But right now, I've started taking a healthy lifestyle by eating the right kind of food," Which would he prefer: Another NBA ring or an gold medal in Beijing Olympics? "I don't have to choose between the two because it has equal importance to me," he said. "When I competed in the FIBA-Americas, my goal was to win the tournament and head to Beijing for the summer games. After that, me and my other team mates go back to training camp to prepare for the next NBA season to win an NBA crown. I always focus on one thing and from there focus on another goal." Bryant planed in at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City aboard a 10-seater jet from Honolulu, Hawaii. The one-day visit to the Philippines is part of his "Kobe Bryant Supernatural Asia Tour 2007" during which will unveil the new version of Kobe II, part of the Fall 2007 basketball footwear product line. The shoes hit Asian shops on Tuesday. After the press conference, Bryant immediately went to Eliseo Belen Charity at Nike Park in The Fort, Taguig, where he met with kids. Later in the afternoon, Bryant then headlined Kobe Supernatural Manila Event at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig, where he shared his training regimen with young Filipino cagers.
