<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Miami Herald:</div><div class="quote_post"> Gary Payton, unhappy how last season ended, decided he wants to play another season, his agent said, and thought he probably would return to the Heat before Pat Riley said otherwise publicly last week </div> Miami Herald (see "Tidbits") Gary Payton could be a good short term option for the Cavs, allowing them until next year to find a suitable point guard to take over the reins. As Payton is ageing, Boobie would still get solid minutes, but they would still have the solid influence of a veteran PG. It's not the ideal solution (as what the Cavs need is a PG for the medium-long term) but it is valid and should at least be pursued by Danny Ferry.
I think a better solution would be Hudson. You never know which Payton is going to show up, and he typically doesn't enjoy playing on slow paced teams. You don't have Shaq or Riley to keep Payton in check. I'm not sure he'll show Mike Brown the same respect.
