riley even called him the fourth best backup swingman in the league! (or something like that...).hes young, athletic, and talented. our management is going to waste. we made terrible offseason moves and now we're not gonna extend the contract of the player that appears to be the future of our franchise when wade's gone. genius.
It's a smart move on Riley's part. It doesn't make any sense for him to gamble on potential right now because the Heat capped out for the next 3 years. Dorrell Wright needs to prove he's worth holding onto for the long term, so far he hasn't made the most of his opportunities. Athletic SG/SF are the easiest to replace in the NBA.
I don't think it's a big deal. Pat Riley probably just doesn't want to give Dorell Wright an extension because he hasn't really proven himself in the league yet. It's not a big deal. If Dorell Wright comes into next season, plays wells, turns some heads, the Heat will resign him. I doubt they just let him walk for nothing. That's beyond stupid. Pat Riley is not stupid
<div class="quote_poster">TwinTowers Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Wright's the next T-Mac as I see it.</div> Lol, I know you're kidding. Wright just doesn't have what T-Mac does. I can see right starting for another team, but this is a smart move non the less. Make him work for his money.
I don’t really know much about Wright but from what I’ve seen his a pretty decent player but this really isn’t a problem if he plays good an d contributes to the team he will get his extension. I think this is great because usually when players who get a extension they don’t play the same and start playing crappier.
I think it was the X-Mas game in 2006 I was watching, but Wright was on Kobe like white on rice and blocked the ish out of him. It'd be a boneheaded move not to keep him.
I think we're going to wait and give him a bigger deal to lock him up for a looooong time. He's going to be a great SF for us down the road.
<div class="quote_poster">TwinTowers Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Wright's the next T-Mac as I see it.</div> He's already made it out of Round 1 of the playoffs, bad comparison.
<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">He's already made it out of Round 1 of the playoffs, bad comparison.</div> The only difference is Wade and Shaq sort of led the team. Anyways, Wright has a lot of potential but I don't really see much from him. Every time he plays against Orlando, he doesn't do much and looks lost. I don't know exactly for sure so I can't say much but Pat Riley will lock him up if he shows promise this season.
i didnt even realize we still have a long time to decide whether or not to resign him. my bad, haha. i guess it is the right thing to do to test him out and see how he does, assuming he gets respectable minutes next season (as im guessing he will).
