<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Grizzlies center Darko Milicic did more than offend officials earlier this week during the European Championships. His new NBA bosses aren't happy, either. Griz general manager Chris Wallace and head coach Marc Iavaroni spoke with Milicic via telephone Thursday, and admonished the 7-footer about his threatening and distasteful interview following a loss to Greece. "We're very displeased with Darko's actions and comments," Wallace said. "It's an emotional situation playing in national competition, particularly with Serbia, because they take pride in having good teams. But Darko has to be in control of his emotions." Wallace said he read a reliable translation of Milicic's profanity-laced tirade. Speaking in his native tongue, An irate Milicic spewed vulgar remarks about the referees and their families. Milicic was upset with the officiating following Serbia's 68-67 overtime loss to Greece. Serbia was bounced from the tournament soon after with a loss to Israel. "There's no excuse for his comments," Wallace said, adding that Milicic is due back in Memphis within a couple of weeks. "We want to meet with Darko face to face and resolve this matter in an appropriate fashion." Marc Cornstein, Milicic's agent, confirmed that FIBA disciplined his client. Milicic reportedly was fined 10,000 Euros. "I know it was a very hotly contested game. But it's hard for me to comment because I don't know exactly what Darko said and what's been said since," Cornstein said. "He's been in the NBA for four years. I can think of him getting one technical foul in four years. He's a fiery competitor, but this would certainly be something that's out of character."</div> Source: Memphis CA
