Jags already missing one defensive end for the year may be sitting the other end, a linebacker and a tackle. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9660986 The only thing that kept the Jags in the game last year was Tommy Maddox. They won't get 4 turnovers from the QB this year and consequently will not escape this game. Steelers win this one for sure. Im not even sure there are any Jags fans in this place, I don't think I have ever heard any post. At least I can count on our trusty anti-Steeler fans to argue.
I guess that would be me? I'm picking the Jags. It's in florida in early September. As well as Batch played last week the Miami D does not compare to what your boys are about to face down there even despite the injuries. I like Matt Jones a lot. I don't expect either team to gain much on the ground. Therefore someone is going to have to take some chances & turnovers will be the name of the game. This will probably be an ugly game decided by a FG. Something like 16-13.

I was hearing game time decision, but regardless he could very well be rusty after all he went through this offseason.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>I was hearing game time decision, but regardless he could very well be rusty after all he went through this offseason.</div> If he practices all week as he has so far, there is no way they hold him out of the game. Nonetheless, with that defense looking so depleted the Steelers may run the ball even better than they did last week, that could make throwing the ball even easier. Ben has only missed one week of practice all preseason and he looked good in every preseason start. You can't assume he will be rusty because he was out one week, he will be as rusty as every other QB in the NFL that started their first game of the season last week.
Bakes, you're on crack. The Jags always play the Steelers tough, but they've never seen a Steeler team as good as the one they face here. Not to mention our impecable record on MNF. Glad to see you playing Devil's Advocate, but I give the Jags as much chance as I give the Jets this weekend.
Wow crack? And I just thought it was the caffeine starting to kick in. How is your team all that different from last season when you lost to these same Jags? I know Maddox was the QB, but it's not like Ben is that huge of an upgrade. Seriously you've always said he's best at managing the game & not being forced to throw too much. The key to Pitt's offense is still in the running game. There are some key injuries to the Jags D, but I think it's unrealistic to assume an easy victory especially in Florida this early in the season.

Four turnovers out of his hand alone. Not only did he throw a pick for 6 late in the game, he fumbled the ball away when the Steelers were set up for a winning field goal in OT. Ben not a huge upgrade from Maddox? Ben was pretty incredible through that playoff run last year. You are not going to find anyone around football that will tell you that Ben is not a huge upgrade from Maddox. It makes it a little easier to assume victory when you consider that the Steelers definitely outplayed them last year and would have easily won were it not for Tommy's turnovers. Now, this is the NFL and nothing comes easily, but I really don't see any matchups that favor the Jaguars in this game.... especially with their defense so banged up
I have a hunch that the Steelers will break that losing streak this week. Injuries make and break teams, no matter what team it is, and the Jags are hurting in that department.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>Steelers are 0-3 at Jacksonville in the month of September.</div> I just argued your point and you answer with a nothing stat like that?? That means absolutely nothing dude. Denver couldn't be beaten in the postseason at mile high either right? There are a million winless or undefeated records like this out there and none of them stand....

Well if Ben plays the Jags will attack him like there's no tomorrow so i think the Jags may pull it off. So if it wasnt ffor culpepper the Steelers wouldve lost last week. The Jags will challenge and i think theyll win but they have a lot of D injuries which may change the game.

Everyone knows that in order to stop the Steelers you have to stop the run...thats how any team approaches the Steelers...to say that if Ben is in they will somehow change the gameplan defensively is ridiculous. second...were it not for Daunte, the Dolphins win? where was Daunte when Batch threw his 3 TDs? or when Parker ran for 115? Daunte kept them in the game and anyone who watched the game knows that...Brown had 30 yards rushing total...30 without Daunte they had nothing.
what i was trying to say is if Daunte didnt decide to throw thos dumb interceptions late in the game then the game wouldve been Miamis IMO. Of course i could be wrong we really dont know but i think they would. Parker wasnt that affective against the Dolphins it was mostly Batch. If Benis in they are going after him because hes injured. Does that make sense to you? Want me to say it slower for you to understand? The Jags will probably be blitzing all game to see if he can take a few hits. The Jags D was good vs the pass but the running game were ok. Dallas just abandoned the run. Pittsburgh was good last week but Culpepper had to screw up for you guys to win.

Mark it down, I agree with MOS 100%. This is the defending Champions whose defense lost 35 year old Olhoffen and overrated C. Hope. They're a year wiser and more cohesive as a unit. The offense lost Bettis and Randle El. Are you kidding me Roeth is barely an upgrade to Maddox? Brady was barely an upgrade to that moron Bledsoe too. Did that sound as ridiculous coming out of my mouth as it did yours? Steelers roll this week, but I'm sure when they win, they'll be 1000 excuses. You guys need to learn football, cause I just don't see it.

As for the game, this was a AFC Central rivalry for a few years and might provide some incentive for both teams. Previously my thoughts on the aftermath of the game w/ Dallas, I said J'ville just did not excite me. Del Rio and Mike Tice is not what I'd call a Mensa meeting. Steelers win about like last week. I think this will be the 1st meeting in the NFL of 2 former MAC QB's.
