Speaking of the 4, who do you think we're starting, Collins or Magloire? If I had to guess Coach Frank's moves, I predict he will start off with Collins, and perhaps switch to Magloire after a few games. That or, Magloire starts at the 4, from day one.

Magloire can't play the 4. Krstic will be moved to the 4 and Magloire will start at the 5

Some will ask, can Krstic guard 5's? At all?

Or to borrow from NI, can the 4's guard Krstic

I was going to start a 96 minutes thread about the minutes distribution at the 4 & 5, but since the topic has been touched upon, here, there is no need.

It looks to me like Krstic will be the only Nets big man to average over 22 MPG as the rest are a bunch of role players that will get adjusted in and out of the lineup depending upon matchups.

more like, depending on injuries. But yes, that's why I can't really grasp the infatuation some people have with identifying the starters . . . Collins, for instance, will play 15-20 minutes a night regardless of whether he's a starter or a reserve.

also, we don't know how often Boki will be used as a SF, which you'd have to remember to account for when doling out expected minutes.

For an odd reason, I believed Magloire to be a PF/C. I have odd feeling Frank's love for Jason Collin's defense isn't going to disappear even with Magloire on the team. Collins isn't going to get buried on the bench, so I expect him to get a good share of those minutes, even if he doesn't start.

agreed. jason collins will start, but play even less minutes in most games...until they need him.

I, to borrow a Foxworthy term, ustacould. The longer gap (4 years) between my 3rd and 4th sons than any the others left me way out of practice.

Outside garbarge time, we're talking about Magloire, Collins, Krstic and Boone playing major minutes, with Nachbar sneaking in for something like 5-10 of those 96. So yeah, that does sound like about 22 mpg for the Mags-Collins-Boone combo, with Krstic getting more because he's, you know, good.

I admit, that's convincing evidence that Smokey and Benson wouldn't play outside injuries or someone falling into Frank's doghouse. If we're going to have end-of-the-bench cheerleaders who we're building up as prospects, I'd MUCH rather have the 22 year old Benson than Malik Allen.

Both have non guaranteed contracts, but take a look at the Nets roster on their website. Allen is listed on the roster, Benson is not.
