Placido Polanco drove in a season-high four runs and BrandonInge homered as the Tigers won their fourth straight game, a12-6 triumph on Saturday. The surging Tigers are five game behind the first-placeCleveland Indians (82-60) in the American League Central.They trail the New York Yankees (80-62) in the wild cardrace. Detroit's Jeremy Bonderman (11-8, 4.73 ERA) takes the hill onceagain with the hopes of breaking through at home. In his laststart here, the righthander allowed three runs in 5 1/3 inningsin a loss to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Bonderman is 2-0 this season against the Mariners this season,improving to 4-2 lifetime. The Mariners hand the ball to Felix Hernandez (11-7, 3.96), whoyielded one run and five hits over seven frames in Monday's winover the New York Yankees. On July 12 at Safeco Field, Hernandez battled through 6 1/3innings for his first career win against the Tigers despitegiving up 10 hits.
