Not talking smack, I'm one of them. I'd be willing to bet that good ol' Dale would be the same way if the Dolphins formed a dynasty. No I don't have anything to substantiate that claim either. It is just an opinion.</div> How is it funny that on an NFL forum fans debate why their team won or lost and what they could have done to play a better game? Isn't that what this forum is for? I have said it many times, Jacksonville played a great game. I am very dissapointed at the Steelers playcalling. They were way too conservative against a team that was stacking safeites in the box all night long. If and this is an IF...if Ben being in the lineup changed their play calling then he should have never started.

I think people with a low football IQ don't understand that a gameplan and how you implement it has more to do with the outcome of a game than any other factor. Coaching has a whole hell of alot to do with how the game turns out, especially when you have two teams that are very similar as far as talent and style goes. You are trying to tell me that the Jags are so much better than the Steelers that no matter what they did they could have never won? You make no sense
I'm making no sense? What did we say the Steelers key to success was? Running the ball. Now you want them to go against that. You don't have the talent to air it out on a team of that caliber on defense. The Jags were not stacking the box. Ben was throwing into coverage but successfully in the early going. BTW his temp was not 104 it was 100.4. Beef would appreciate those mundane details. Just because your team had an amazing run late in the season you honestly think you're head & shoulders above the rest of the league now? Even I'm not that naive.
You're the one who stated the Steelers would be able to run all over the Jags depleted D. Now who has the low football IQ? :stupid:

That is an incredible number....Now, take into consideration that the Steelers had absolutely no running yardage and that tells you that the DBs were blitzing the run and not covering receivers. When you have safeties and corners tackling your RB at the line of scrimmage, you need to throw on 1st and 2nd down. And he was not throwing into coverage, the guys were open. What does that mean I think my team is head and shoulders above any other team? How do you get that out of me saying the play-calling was awful??

I didn't realize they said his temp was 104. 100.4 sounds more reasonable. He could not have played with a temp of 104. It would have been physically impossible because he would have been so out of it that he would have missed the snaps, if he could have made it out onto the field.

Now, only one of them sat out the game, sitting out the whole year in fact...anyway, having confidence in my team and showing how and why I thought they would win suddenly gives me no credibility? Of course I backed down from saying the Steelers would win...THEY LOST!! what else am I supposed to do? I was wrong, Jax outplayed them...The Steelers and the Jags are a very similar team...how else would you like me to express that? As far as your credibility goes....why don't you answer my last post? Jax was stacking DBs in the box all night long. When they threw on 1st and 2nd down the WRs were open....now that I have presented you with the stats to back up my argument, why don't you continue to argue your point? or at least admit that you were wrong...
If you win an argument wiht bakes, that actually proves him right. That is how the patriots fans on this board operate.

I wasn't following it that closely, but it sure seemed like they had good coverage to me. The crux of my argument is you wanted the Steelers to go against what they do best & that just wasn't going to work. They don't have the talent to air it out against a quality defense.

There were absolutely not in a nickel or dime package on first and second down. If you weren't following the game closely then why would you claim that the Jags never stacked the box? Of course I wanted the Steelers to throw, the Jags were stacking the box. They have a great QB and talented WRs, They aired it out early in every game of the playoffs, enabling them to win the super bowl. They didn't start running the ball until they were up by a couple scores on each team. You obviously know less about the Steelers than you claim so maybe you should just give up on this argument. Without the threat of Big Ben, even the Steelers offensive line would not be able to run the ball. The Jags showed that they weren't convinced that Ben would complete any balls on 1st or 2nd down....this enabled them to stack the box and the Steelers weren't able to run the ball all night. When a team does this you HAVE to throw the ball...the Steelers should have thrown more on 1st and 2nd down...that simple.
