C'mon. Yes, if a defense is stacking the box, you have to do something different - this could be throwing the ball, it could be a screen pass or some other misdirection play to loosen up the defense. But you NEVER, NEVER, give up on the run. The Steelers didn't run the ball because they felt it was inneffective, but what they forget is that in a grind it out game like they had, running the ball is essential. The Jaguars didn't open the game up until they got a few key runs, which as we all know, came in the second half. If you give the running game some time, you are going to wear that defense out and have more of an ability to do the things you want to do. The Steelers lost because, dare I say, they were out coached. Cowher made a mistake. It doesn't happen often, but I would pin the blame solely on the coach.

Maybe Jacksonville is best team in league. They have beaten a couple of solid teams in the boys and steelers. They were good last year, maybe they have taken that next step. We will find out in indy

Yes they were able to pass on the Colts, but that's not a dominate D. What they did offensively in the Broncos game was impressive I'll give you that. But in the SB Ben was horrible. They also had Randle El in the playoffs. They're starting a rookie WR now & from what I've seen so far he's got a lot of studying to do. Like VF suggested screen plays work just as affective as a running game.

Especially when it is person in charge of team. Saying the refs cost you game, or you really proved you are better despite losing to a team multiple times in a season, those are excuses

I'm not saying they weren't, but you said they should have run the ball more? they ran the ball a hell of alot for a team that averaged like 2 yards a carry. I don't understand what you think they did wrong. Jacksonville didn't run the ball until late in the game. Im not saying give up on the run...but you have to throw the ball more on 1st and 2nd down when they are bringing safeties up.....The Steelers DID run the ball...mostly on 1st and 2nd down. The reason the Jags got a few key runs is BECAUSE they all but abandoned the run in the first half. They were moving the ball through the air, forcing the Steelers to lay back on the receivers. Maybe you didn't see the stat I put up earlier....4 of the top 5 tacklers for Jax were DBs...The Steelers should have been going downfield more. Some simple outs on 1st and second down, much like Jax did, would have eventually pushed those DBs back.

You are going to tell me that because of one bad game Ben doesnt have the talent? Randle El's slot is being filled more by Nate Washington than Holmes...and Washington has done a pretty good job. Ben will be healthy soon and he is going to make teams play the Steelers straight up...this you can count on.

I am not knocking his talent at all. You completely missed what i am saying. He needs to do it a lot longer to be great. btw, almost every QB in the league can beat you with thier arm if you key on run. I want to see him succesful when run isnt going. That is difflecult, that makes you great.
I think by suggesting the jags were simply keying on the run is just more disrespect towards just how good their D is. They have solid personel at each defensive position. They don't need to key on any one aspect to be affective. Now it's true they have yet to beat the Colts consistently, but they've been close in just about every contest.

They were keying on the run and when they did, they were blowing up the Steeler RBs...enough said....We should have taken adavntage of that and our play calling , in my opinion, did not allow that.

My point was that he is good enough that he should have taken advantage of the Jags defensive scheme.
