How much has the fact that it is September 11th impacted you today? Have you thought at all about what happened six years ago or is it just another day?

Did anyone here lose any family or friends in the events?

I think it has impacted us all. The economy went downhill after 9/11 and has struggled to come back to what it used to be. I remember right after 9/11 (couple months) we went back to my country for visit and the airports were like hell, we missed flights, had to stay in D.C. for 3 nights. To this day we feel the effects of what happened. (soldiers dying every day in iraq for example, without 9/11 wouldn't happen)

9/11 is a sad day for America (you could argue for world as well). May the victims rest in peace. They'll never be forgotten.

I'm still angry. We where fed a bunch of bullshit while we where in morning and like the obedient lap dogs we are, we ate it up and asked for more.

We have friends who are a United pilot/stewardess married couple, they live in Philadelphia. He was scheduled to be on one of the flights, and they both knew all the crew who were murdered by Al Qaeda that day. They went to a slew of funerals for a few weeks, and I imagine that was a difficult experience for them.

I was watching C-SPAN that morning when they broke in and announced that a private plane had accidentally crashed into the WTC and then a few minutes later when they evacuated the capitol. It was very scary that Al Qaeda could strike the pentagon - the very symbol of our military strength.

I didn't know anyone directly affected (family of, or murdered individual) but I do feel for all those involved.

I also feel for the New Yorkers who no longer have the WTC as part of the skyline or as a landmark. I can only imagine what it'd be like if it were the golden gate bridge destroyed (when I lived near it) or the St. Louis arch, or Wrigley field.

In terms of the buildings, I did like the skyline, but I don't miss how they affected the surrounding area and stores.

i feel badly about what happened, and i'm sad that so many people's lives were ended like that, and that so many people were affected by it.

but...it didn't really hit me how this ends up affecting EVERYONE until i heard my cousin talk about he wants to join some form of the military. that right there scared the hell outta me...i mean, i know my cousin, and if anything, this is probably the best way for him to help this country (he's a redneck, loves guns, good in the wilderness, etc) but if i hadda witness him going over to iraq to fight one of the most greedy and bullshit wars i've ever heard of, i don't think i'd be able to deal with that.

and i remember in high school, my history/gov't teacher always talked about the possibility of a draft...and that scares the hell outta me, because i don't know what'd i'd do. i've fired a gun before, and killed a few animals with my previously mentioned cousin, but if i actually had to go overseas and maybe even kill someone, i don't know what i'd do.

idk about that video...it's really iffy. why would the government go to such extremes just to get money? seems a little ridiculous to me. i mean, i could understand if they just "let" this happen, but that they actually did it seems a little wild.

well...if that is true, could be either

    a) they didn't think it could really, actually happen to the US.

    or

[IMG] they wanted it to happen, to give them an excuse to invade iraq and get oil/money.

(those are the only reasons i could think of)

There was missed intelligence by the government, but the event was certainly not a conspiracy

Yea I don't buy it either. If the govt wants money, they could make it or get it elsewhere. They're that powerful.

A girl in my math class demanded that she gets the day off because of how she was effected by 9/11. They asked is she knew anyone in the attack, she said no, but they didn't want a scene, so they gave her the day off. I was like...what?

    bah

Occam's Razor states the simple explanation is the truth. Asleep at the switch. They just missed it. Not at all surprising, given how well the govt. runs anything, from the IRS to the DMV to Katrina relief effort.

Speaking of Katrina and conspiracy theories, I bet they could make a video saying the govt. permitted Katrina to happen to get Iraq's oil and people would believe it.

    Exactly. People believe anything now.

But year peg182, I can see the govt not acting on the info they had, probably didn't believe it would happen but to think that they'd want this to happen is nonsense to me.

All those conspiracy theories about 9/11 have been debunked. Anyone thinking about posting some nonsense about 9/11 should not waste their time.
