QUOTE

The Toronto Blue Jays and shortstop John McDonald have agreed on a US$3.8-million, two-year deal. The contract extension, confirmed to The Canadian Press by a source with knowledge of the talks, was expected to be announced later Tuesday and comes after a dismal 2-5 road trip that included two gut-wrenching losses in the ninth inning.
McDonald, who is earning $750,000 this season, would have been eligible for free agency in the fall. His signing brings stability to a position that has long been a sore point for the club.

http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=218052&hubname=mlb

Well deserved. He is a great defensive player, and when his offense can get going, he will be an amazing SS.
He is 33 already though, not going to get any better...
Seems like a desperation move to me. I like Johnny Mac but he's not everyday material.

Defensively he was really impressive this season, im not concerned about his age because he showed no sign of any sort of decline this season. Even if he doesnt play up to potential were only paying him roughly 4 mil for 2 years which Ted Rogers pays for so theres no reason to get all disapointed.
