QUOTE

A second opinion on Eli Manning's injured right shoulder was the same as the first opinion: It's a sprained A-C joint and if he can tolerate the pain, he can play.
The Giants sent Manning's MRI to Dr. James Andrews - a noted orthopedic surgeon who operates out of Birmingham, Alabama - and he informed them today that he agreed with their initial diagnosis. He saw no structural damage in Manning's shoulder, and saw no reason to think he could damage it by playing this week.
So now it's up to Manning. If the pain in his shoulder decreases, or if he can tolerate it, he can play against the Green Bay Packers in the Giants' home opener. If not, he'll sit out and Jared Lorenzen will get the call.
The Giants are also convinced that even if Manning can't play this week, that he will definitely be ready to go in two weeks when they play the Redskins in Washington on Sept. 23.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...anning_cleared_to_play_this_week.html?ref=rss

Thats goo d I guess, being out a month would have been devastating. The media make things to big these days!
The only thing to worry about is further injuring that shoulder. Green Bay put decent pressure on Donovan McNabb last week, I expect them to do the same on Manning. Hopefully, for the sake of Giant fans, he doesn't further injure his shoulder.
Giants fans(atleast the ones ive been around) are usually over critical of Eli Manning in my opinion....but I guess facing the possibility of watching the Hefty Lefty behind center has scared them back into reality....theres nothing like the threat of having Andy Richter at QB to make you appreciate what you have....

hahaha, the Andy Richter comparison is great.
And this is very good news about Eli. Now if only there was some magical news that the defense actually learned how to play defense.

My cousin tried to tell me the Hefty Lefty was great, because he blocked for a HB on one play.
I laughed.

And Eli earns a ton of respect from his teammates by ignoring this injury and showing what kind of competitor and leader he really is. Maybe if this never happens, he doesn't get these guys to buy into him and they are never World Champs. This turned out to be a sneak preview of what we all witnessed slack-jawed during the final six weeks of the season.
