<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef)</div><div class='quotemain'>Heres how i judge an NFL QB: 1.Can he make all the throws? Grossman can, most NFL QBs cant 2.Does he have arm strength? Grossman has + arm strength, but it could be better 3.Does he stand in the pocket and deliver? Grossman is working on this, it was his worst problem until recently 4.Is he tough? He keeps coming back, he must be tough 5.Can he operate when the games on the line? He did today I think Grossman is for real....</div> I don't want to come down on Grossman too hard - I do think he is a quality QB - I just think his stats this season are far inflated by the fact that he played Detroit and Green Bay. His job today was pretty poor and exposed a pretty big weakness in his game. If the Vikings defense had done its job he would have thrown at least 4 picks if not more (they were so close to 40 points its not even funny ). So how would I rate him according to those criteria? 1. Can he make all the throws? Not yet - there were several times in the game that Grossman airmailed his receivers or threw behind them - even without pressure. If he feels comfortable he can, but most NFL QBs should be able to do that. 2. Does he have arm strength? Yes 3. Does he stand in the pocket and deliver? He does need to work on this. He was pretty rattled today by the pressure and it showed. 4. Is he tough? Yes, he comes back, but its too soon to tell. Let's see how he plays with an injury. This isn't a knock on him - he hasn't had the chance to prove himself. 5. Can he operate when the game is on the line? I would say that the jury is still out on this as well. Again, the pass he made in the 4th quarter was such a simple pass ANY QB in the league would have completed it. Given the rest of his misses as the game progressed, I am not sure about this.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>Grossman was under pressure all day and Johnson had basically a clean pocket all day. The difference is Grossman has the arm to lead his team back, and once johnson was put in that position it was over. I dont think i saw him complete a long pass all day. He can pick you apart short, but when it comes time to pass down the field he cant do it. He couldnt have made the throw that grossman made to win the game.</div> Johnson had a very bad day, and yes, his arm strength is below average, but I guarantee Johnson makes the same pass that Grossman made. Why do I know this? He's already done it this year. Give the Bears credit, the Vikings had nothing open downfield all day. I only remember two long passes - the one was thrown into very good coverage and the second was called back for offensive pass interference.

I give the credit to the vikes D. I saw johnson play a much worse game than stats would indicate, and i blame him. Maybe, i am a little biased.

He did clean things up a bit in the 4th quarter, but I still saw far too many passes that appeared to be panic passes (even though there was no pressure). I don't think Johnson had a good game at all. He was not very crisp and missed some passes badly. I would agree that his stats make him look better than he was (and 195 or so yards is not impressive).

They kept doing that stunt up middle with backer and thomas jones never got over quick enough. Its like, come one, you say it the last 27 pass plays, maybe you should recognize it by now. While I am on it, if they cant start running ball better, they are going to kill grossman. He cant take that beating every week.
Congrats to the Bears, but I think this is clearly a 2 team division. The game was in Minnesota's hands. The Bears capitalized on a huge turnover to their credit. But to hail Grossman as clutch when I have yet to see him make a td pass this season where the WR wasn't WIDE open would be ridiculous.

Grossman made a play that he should have made...give him credit for that. But I hardly call this a clutch play on his part. No, he doesn't need to throw into triple coverage to be clutch, but he does have to show some leadership at the end of the game to lead his team back to victory. The game I saw had the Bears scoring on their last two drives - one starting from their own 30-some yard line and the other a Vikings-penalty riddled drive which did more for the Bears advancing the ball than Grossman. I'll give you this, if Grossman does this every week, or starts making a habit of suddenly finding an open receiver in the last minutes of a game, then I'll start calling him clutch.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>The Bears defense deserves all the credit & I'm sure Rex himself would say the same.</div> I dont know about that. I am sure rex would give everyone else credit, thats why team loves him, but offense did thier part.
The jury is still out on Grossman. He's been good this year and if he stays healthy he could be a very good QB.
