I guess I'm not as confident in his game as Donnie Nelson, but I don't think Harris has played consistently enough to determine if he is "worth" a long-term contract. I imagine that Harris signed for atleast more than Nocioni [38M +], but he hasn't improved all too much in his three years.
I honestly hope Harris didn't get as much as Noc did. He hasn't improved his game a whole lot since coming into the league and is still very one-dimensional on offense. Essentially, if you can force him to beat you with a jump shot, you win, cause he'll miss more than he makes. For the Mavs sake, I hope he didn't get a huge wad of cash.

In all honesty though, can you blame them for this? He might have come a bit overpaid, but he fits their team. He's solid on defense because he's so quick, and he's more of a PG than Terry. Plus with him and Terry do make a solid combination at the point since their styles are slightly different. Terry has a great jumper while Harris is the slasher, so it works and helps gives teams different looks consistently, which is why the signing works too.
The Mavericks are still a good enough team that they shouldn't make a move like this. It seems desperate to overpay for a guy like Devin Harris, who I very strongly suspect is already at his ceiling.
Question.</p> Who would Dallas fans rather have? Jason Terry and his huge contract and on (huge games) and off (disappointing) games or Devin Harris and this contract along with no jumper and unreliable passing/lead guard play?</p> A lot of people were complaining about Terry and his huge contract last year, so will they do the same when Harris proves, yet again, he isnt worth this deal?</p>
Well personly i don't figured Harris don't deserve this!He is kind of a guy who push the dallas as at un off running rocket.He is next "Nash" THE next "MVP"in the future.DALLAS will not do the same fool as before "he" did,right?
Harris is by no means the next Nash. Harris has no jump shot. He's not a great passer by any means. The only thing he can do is run the court and finish at the hoop. At this stage in his career, I see Harris as a less developed Tony Parker. He's got all sorts of speed, can finish at the hoop, but isn't a great passer.
Devin Harris is an excellent player and excells in Dallas' offensive scheme but he will definitley not develop into anything else but a role player IMO, if the Mavericks are crossing their fingers he could anchor their team once Terry's contract is up they are going to be disapointed. Thats just my opinion, who knows maybe he will make a huge leap in his development and actually come as a bargain when all is set and done, even more so with the CBA gradually increasing.
