Lazio Line Up Swoop For Majstorovic

Lazio have today been linked with yet another defender, this time in the form of FC Basel centre-back Daniel Majstorovic.

Over the past few days, the capital club have been associated with former Inter defender Ze Maria and ex-Ajax wing-back Hatem Trabelsi. Now it appears they have turned their attention to Swedish international Majstorovic.

The 30-year-old, who has represented his country on nine occasions, has had a modest career to date, playing for the likes of Malmo and Fortuna Koln of Germany. However he is highly-rated in his home country and Swiss team FC Basel fought off the likes of Ajax and PSV to secure his signature from Dutch club FC Twente in January 2006.

Majstorovic has welcomed the possibility of a move and told Il Corriere dello Sport that he would relish the chance of moving to Italy: “Everyone knows that Lazio are a big team and I am well aware of that.

“The club has a great history, amongst the best in Italy, and I would be very proud to wear their shirt.”

Lazio have made a stuttering start to the Serie A season with two consecutive draws against Torino and Sampdoria. Delio Rossi’s men will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening when they host Empoli at the Stadio Olimpico.
