TORONTO (Ticker) - Before facing the Boston Red Sox, the NewYork Yankees aim to complete a three-game sweep of the TorontoBlue Jays on Thursday.


In the midst of a seven-game winning streak, the Yankees arefive games behind the Red Sox in the American League East. Theteams open a three-game series at Fenway Park on Friday.

Thanks to their winning ways, the Yankees have opened a four-gamelead over Detroit (80-67) in the wild card race.


Ian Kennedy (1-0, 2.25 ERA), who has been impressive in hisfirst two starts, takes the mound for the Yankees. A 2006first-round pick, Kennedy has a win and a no-decision in his twooutings, allowing five runs - three earned - and 12 hits in 12innings.


Mike Mussina, the man Kennedy temporarily replaced in the<div class="pre">rotation, threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings and Robinson Cano drove</div>in a pair of runs in a 4-1 win on Wednesday.
