<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Giantsfan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>In my opinion Roethlisberger never had it in the first place. Its the steeleres system that made them succesful and now that teams are figuring it out, they are plunging down the black hole of super bowl follow ups. Its pretty simple what the steelers do. Run it on first Run it on second Small hitch routes on third Teams are now saying hey well we know that they never throw on first, jam the line. They dont have bettis anymore to get those extra couple of yards so make Parker go east and west. Parker gets between a 2-3 yard gain. They then throw it out to the sideline for a couple of yards or try to force t in which usually gets another 2 or 3 yards and there at a 3rd and 3-6 and everyone in the world knows what they are going to do. They run both WR's to hitch they tell the middle receiver to run a slant type route, then they delay Hayes or parker and hope that the defense still falls for the same play. You want to talk about VANILLA, thats the Steelers Offense. Ben never had it becuase he was never put in the situation to gain "it". How many bombs have you seen completed by roethlisberger or how mny 15-25 yard throws have you seen needled in there for their WR's. Not very many and teh reason is becuase of cowhers conservative nature. I am a guy who loves to run the ball but Cowher is the king of running the ball.</div> Was wondering if any Baltimore or Atlanta fans would lend me some crow for GF1 to eat?

GF1 has the gist of the Steelers offense philopsophy in a nutshell. The Steelers excute real well & are effective which is what counts. Its the D that has set Pittsburgh apart especially since LeBeau became D Co-ord again. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Steelerfan_2005)</div><div class='quotemain'>Was wondering if any Baltimore or Atlanta fans would lend me some crow for GF1 to eat?</div> Why so snippy SF? GF1 was complimentary. Did he not bow down to the king enough for your liking? Atlanta fans? Crow? I get it. Its a reference to our "shadowy" friend from the ancient past right? Clever but not that funny.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Steelerfan_2005)</div><div class='quotemain'>Not so much snippy, but I didn't like the shot at Big Ben. "Never had it..." Are you kidding me?</div> That was pretty "interesting" what happened to <u>Big Ben</u> at the end of V for Vendetta Seriously, I have nothing against B-Roth but am not quite sold on him completely.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Steelerfan_2005)</div><div class='quotemain'>Was wondering if any Baltimore or Atlanta fans would lend me some crow for GF1 to eat?</div> I have my fork ready Its not a shot at Big Ben I just haven't seen him do the things a "great" quarterback should do. Sure he won the superbowl but was it because of him or was he just another role player. I choose the second, and you ripped apart a Chief defense that has more holes in it then a slice of swiss cheese. or packer cheese lol. I ill continue this in an hour or so.......
we all know the way that the NFL ranks their defenses is a joke. I couldnt name yo anyone on that secondary besides ty law off teh top of my memory, is Jerome woods still an avergae player? is he on the team still? The giants have a horible secondary yet they are ranked in the middle of the league. SF you are a smart guy, Pittsburgh system does not let Roethlisberger show his talent or show his failure. Any NFL starter can execute the Pittsburgh passing game, I mean if you only throw it 20 times in a game. Once passed 20 yards......thats why I have doubt for B-Roth becuase he hasnt shown to me taht he could make any plays without a running game, thats why the Steelers are struggling becuase even though the running game is working your defense isnt playing last years defense and that forces B-ROTH top throw the ball more.

Last yr, B-roth operated effectively and efficiently in the system and that all he needs to do. He just needs to do what he did last yr. Because, thats the Steelers philopsophy regardless of how bland it is IMO. Hell; vanilla ice cream w/ marshmallow topping is more eye pleasing than the Steelers O. The D is whats carrying the Steelers this year IMO... just like any other. The Steelers will never the Rams of 99/2000 and for that we should all be thankful.
6 Tds...11 Ints this year....thats 11 in 6 games, when his previous high for a season was 11....so I ask again, has he lost it?
He hasn't lost it...Unless ur referring to the dominant defense or great rushing attack he used to have....He's never had anything as far as talent goes,individually....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef)</div><div class='quotemain'>6 Tds...11 Ints this year....thats 11 in 6 games, when his previous high for a season was 11....so I ask again, has he lost it?</div> Yes. "It" being a solid running game to rely on. Ben could come in as a rookie and flouish because of what he was asked to do. He is, or at least was, a decent player, but I didn't consider him as good as he seemed due to the system. With the loss of a solid, consistent running game, his flaws are a little more exposed, as it would be with any QB. The injuries also don't help much, but they are not the only reason IMO.
On the season: 7 TDs, 14 Ints....so I ask the question again, to those who said no....Has he lost IT?
I don't think Ben has lost it. I think the Steelers' chemistry and talent level has changed and he has had so many bad breaks that he probably needs an offseason to regroup. I still say that the Steelers are looking for an offensive identity, so the Steelers face this challenge. Someone needs to make a decision regarding how they want to handle Ben. If he needs to get healthy, then sit him down and let Batch play. If he truly is healthy, then let him stay in and see if the offense can't use the rest of the regular season to find an offensive identity, so that they can rebound next year. If I'm not mistaken, the Patriots didn't make the playoffs the second year of their 3 out of 4 Super Bowl run. In the meantime, the Steelers need to find a way to run the football more consistantly.
The Steelers of all teams can not throw the ball 54 times and win... unless they plan on naming Mike Martz as the successor to Cowher.
