The team could always use another headband on the floor.

More importantly though, dude is what Lamond Murray should have been 3 years ago. A vet you can rely on to hit open shots.

QUOTE

Should Allan Houston decide to go elsewhere, Jumaine Jones is waiting in the wings for the Nets’ backup wing job. Jones, who is eight years younger and two inches taller than Houston, worked out for the team this week and according to reports is the man the Nets will turn to if the former Knick goes elsewhere or simply takes too long to make his decision. Jones, who the Nets have been interested in before, has career averages of 7.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 35% from beyond the arc. An off season injury a year ago kept him from breaking into the Suns’ rotation last season.

Jumaine Jones = poor man's Boki Nachbar?

If he's good enough to play on the Suns, he's good enough to play here. I'd take him, but I'd really rather have Rod Benson.

Rod Benson can run the floor, and has decent range for a PF, but doesn't have the shooting skills necessary to play SF. Unless Benson takes the spot of a big man, it'll be hard to add him to the team when our front court is full.

I think I would like J.Jones better than Houston. J. Jones can provide some rebounding off the bench.

J Jones isn't also somewhat broken, but we need a shooter to replace House.

I prefer Jones over Houston, actually. He's younger, taller and more reliable. Nobody can really know if Houston really has anything left in him, and if his injury riddled body can even survive NBA competition anymore. If we're looking for just a shooter, Houston is the man, but if we want a good shooter, with decent defense and rebounding as well, we should go with Jones.

always better to go with a multi-dimensional player over a one-dimensional player who hasn't been in the league for a long while and might not even have that one dimension.

i'm all for jumaine jones. i don't really want houston here at all.

Exactly. That's why Jones, IMO, would be a better pickup than Houston. If we wait till training camp and Houston flops over there, Jones may already have a contract on another team. So unless we're sure that either a)Jones won't sign with any team till after training camp or b)Houston will bea success, we should just sign Jones RIGHT NOW.

basketball wise i would like JJ, but sadly the nba is a business and Houston is a better business move than JJ. i am sure Ratner is drooling at teh possibility of hearing Marv Albert say "Houston for 3...YES! great shot by Allan Houston with Marbury's hand in his face." Jackson " that was a great play Marv, that 3 silenced the garden and was all set up by Jason Kidd. *does the play-by-play of the replay and ends with "and there is Houston in the corner for 3.GOT EM". hey i kinda admit i would like to hear that too, but i feel i could count on JJ more than AH right now considering nobody outside of the 6 teams at his practice know what AH looks like. plus he didnt play against defenders so thats another reason that JJ would be better ATM than AH.

I'd take either one. I'll give Houston credit based on the fact that Lawrence Frank knows how to study tape and all that so if Houston sucked that badly i'm sure he wouldve spotted it. If Houston is really back at top form he'd be great to have on a team that so badly needs consistent 3 point/perimeter shooters. Kidd, VC, Houston, RJ, Krstic could give teams defensive fits at the end of games. Jumaine could be nice also if he can still shoot the way he did in Phoenix, but only time will tell.

anytime you get a player who can legitimately play 3 spots is a nice addition for the league minimum imo...jjis also an above average defender...

If we somehow got rid of BRob, we would have been able to sign both H20 and JJ. Dammit, the Mcinnis signing is still affecting us.
