QUOTE

With the conclusion of Eurobasket Sunday, a clearer picture has emerged of what teams–and what Net players–could be playing in next summer’s Olympics. Jason Kidd is a definite, but Jamaal Magloire and Boki Nachbar could also be wearing national colors. Canadian basketball officials would like to see Magloire wearing the Maple Leaf and their Slovenian counterparts would welcome Nachbar back after a year off. Canada and Slovenia must get through a pre-Olympic tournament first, however.

i would have liked for magloire to play w/canada this year to make sure he would come into camp in playing shape. after this year when kidd makes another player money and magloire signs a new contract i could see him playing for canada since he got his money. he pleases himself and his country.

magloire better play for canada. dalembert + magloire, even without Nash--thats a decent starting front court.

The addition of magloire would be a great help for canada, but I don't see why where your conviction is coming from ("better play")?

I dont even know why Magloire is being mentioned. Team Canada no longer wants him after his statements during the FIBA tourney when he stated he would play if they made it to the Olympics and all the players took it as an insult because he didnt wanna play in the qualifiers. So wipe Magloire off the checklist.

Magloire is a guy I don't want on Team Canada. He didn't go to Vegas, because he just didn't feel to risk injury or hurt himself, IMO. He just wants to help the Nets win, and that is fine with me.

Canada is young, in a couple of years, when we get our legs under us, we can start to compete and play better ball.

I agree with Master Shake but our post scoring was horrible. We had open lay-ups and still found ways to get blocked. Having Magloire there just to teach is better than watching Kulijanin and Kendall miss easy baskets.

Magloire won't play next summer. He knows he's too injury prone to risk playing. Boki will though, can't see his country and team letting him skip another summer.

If he says yes, they will welcome him with open arms...and if as rumored the pre-Olympic tournament is in Toronto, it's a no brainer. Team Canada may not want him, but Canada Basketball will.

As for the comment that he is injury-prone, that is simply wrong. His most serious injury has been a broken finger.

i don't know about that. Leo Rautins, the head coach of Team Canada(and father of SU senior Andy Rautins), asked the whole team if they wanted Magloire after he gave them the cold shoulder for the tournament, and they all said No. It would make sense for the head coach to have a say in things.

Didn't team Canada say that they wont invite Magloire anymore? Cause I remember I posted an article that said that so I don't know whats going on with him and Canada.

Meaningless. It would be huge deal for Canadian basketball if the pre-Olympic tournament--with 12 good teams--is held in Toronto. If Magloire wants to play, the decision will not be Rautins or the players on Team Canada. It will be up to the people who run Canadian basketbal. If he wants to play, he will play.

After all these international basketball tournaments over the years Maglorie skipped and his attitude towards Nash hosting a Charity game a couple years ago I dont want him wearing the red and white representing Team Canada, he doesnt deserve that honor.

hm. i hope you're right, because if Magloire chooses to play, Team Canada could sure use him.
