I heard someone talking on TV today about benching Bledsoe and putting Tony Romo in his place. Could this happen? Is Tony Romo any good or have potential?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (brewpubzone)</div><div class='quotemain'>I heard someone talking on TV today about benching Bledsoe and putting Tony Romo in his place. Could this happen? Is Tony Romo any good or have potential?</div> Romo had a fantastic preseason and the Dallas media and some fans have been screaming for him to be the starter since the preseason. This definitely could happen, but I don't know if it happens this week. I think Parcells has to start considering it though. I think I'd like to see him start a game and see what he can do. I can't see this happening until either the season is lost, Bledsoe is hurt, or if Bledsoe has like a 5 INT game.
I doubt it happens, I bet Bledsoe stays right where he is. Although I'd like to see what Romo can do and Bledsoe is washed up IMO.
I also heard Dallas might send a 1st and 2nd to Green Bay for Favre... I actually wouldn't mind that but it'll never happen. Bledsoe won't get bench until Dallas is out of the playoff picture in my opinion and I like Dallas to still make the playoffs so he'll be their guy for a while in my opinion.

Living right outside of the Dallas area...I've heard nothing of that sort. I'm hoping you're being sarcastic. No offense...but who would send a 1st and 2nd for Favre now? Please clear this up and tell me it was sarcasm!!
I like Brett Favre, but there is no way that he is worth a 1st and a 2nd today. Perhaps in his prime, you might give that if all you needed was a QB, but not now.
Probably just some mEdia hype, like in the off season when both he AND Javon Walker were going to denver for half of Denvers Draft picks and Jake Plummer, yeah riiiight! If Favre is traded anywhere(which he wont) it'll be somewhere with a WCO, Seattle, Philly, Atlanta, all of them make more sense than Dallas!
hahaha i'm pretty sure he was joking guys, dont worry no one is giving a 1st and 2nd for Brett Favre. Romo is a good QB and he'll probably get some starts at the end of the season
i dont think they would take him out for another 2-3 games. If he plays the same then just take him out.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (J-E-T-S 1083)</div><div class='quotemain'>Romo is a good QB and he'll probably get some starts at the end of the season</div> Good based on what? Preseason? Bledsoe is the starting QB until Dallas is eliminated from playoff contention.

The Cowboys will have the be out of playoff contention or Bledsoe will have to be hurt for Romo to get a shot. Bledsoe could throw 2 INTs in each of the next 3 games, but as long as Dallas win them then he'll be the starter. Parcells will not hand his team over to an inexperienced QB that quickly. However, next year, if Romo has a good preseason again, then he could end up being the starter.

Dallas wouldn't give a 2 alone for Favre. It wont happen. Its hard to call it a quarterback controversy when Parcells stays in Bledsoe's corner so deeply. He did hedge a little in Monday's press conference when he used words like "at this minute" and "at this time". That tells me that he's at least thought about it, but he's not really considering it, yet. Yes BP stends to stick with his veterans he knows, but he's also all about winning. When I think about the situation, I am convinced that if a defense allows Bledsoe to stand back there and pick them apart, he will. If the line can't protect him, Bledsoe is not worth much. So Tony Romo? A backup QB is also the most popular guy in town when things are looking good for the starter. What do you know about him? Not much, but its no reason to make him the next Brady. I personally think he's got talent, but I have to give him some time. If you're betting on Romo to lead this team to big things this season, you'd get the long shot odds, something along the lines of 40 to 1. Sure Romo would do a better job of avoiding the rush, but like someone pointed out to me, if that was the number one requirement of an NFL QB then why not stick Terry Glenn back there. Surely he could run circles around defensive tackles. Yes, I'm going overboard to make a point, but there's a lot more to quarterbacking than avoiding the rush, just ask Michael Vick. It's tempting to say that Romo couldn't be any worse than Bledsoe, and that he wouldn't make that inexcusable throw that led to a gut-wrenching interception in Philadelphia. But these are only words. The point is we don't know, maybe Romo never gets us in position to make that throw at the end, maybe Romo doesn't lead us to victory against the Redskins or the Titans. It comes down to this for me, are you ready to jeopardize the season by naming Tony Romo the starter? I'm not saying he would ruin this season, just that there is no way of knowing what would happen. If your contention is that the season is over anyway if we continue to play Bledsoe, then you should be calling for Romo. But I'm not ready to go there yet, the season is still young and the possibility of this team doing something good is still a reality. If Flozell Adams and Pat Watkins had played a decent game, then the Cowboys would have beaten the Eagles, regardless of how bad Bledsoe played. I think Bledsoe deserves some blame, but the odds that we figure out how to use and protects his strengths are probably better than the odds that Romo hits the ground running.

I especially love the Terry Glenn at QB point. Flozell Adams was absolutely the player I blame the most for that loss. Darren Howard owned him all game. I blame Bledsoe some too. He started holding onto the ball way too long down the stretch and I don't know why he threw the ball so quickly for that last interception, but I was down on Flozell before his injury last season. I'm definitely not encouraged by him after the injury. Let's also remember something else. The Philly defense has torn up every OL they've faced so far. Mike Greenberg said this morning that he thought Mario Williams would make his presence felt this weekend against Dallas. I don't see that as very likely.

It's no way a fantasy. Even the guys here were making fun of it and Harry Sydney (man of sense as I like to call him) goes well a 1st and a 2nd you might have to pull the plug on that one. If you even say anything bad about Favre in GB your literally Satan on earth to some of these people. It's ridiculous. Sydney laughs about it as he was critical of Favre a couple times this year and the call ins were ridiculous. Best part is Sydney was right. Like you said never would happen. Favre is better than Bledsoe in my opinion but not enough to warrant a 1st and 2nd.
From what I understand Bledsoe will start but if his performance even slightly reeks of last week he'll be benched & Romo will get his shot.
