QUOTE

Forget about the Nets' flirtation with Allan Houston. For now. There's a team closer to home -- and closer to his heart -- that is a more viable front-runner for his services, if Houston and his agent have anything to say about it. "Let's be realistic," Bill Strickland said last night. "Given his tenure with the Knicks -- and this is me speaking, not Allan -- I would think they had a slight advantage over any and every team, given his history with the team." That's not to say the two-time All-Star isn't considering all suitors, but Houston made his reputation in New York, developed an abnormally cordial relationship with owner Jim Dolan and was the face of the franchise for nine mostly successful seasons. Moreover, he lives a short drive from the Knicks' training complex in Greenburgh, N.Y. The snags, of course, are obvious: The Knicks have 17 guaranteed contracts, including three shooting guards who have to play (Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson and Nate Robinson), and a management team that is very distracted right now. -- Star-Ledger

If true, wondering if he was using Thorn and the Nets for leverage? Wonder if Thorn was helping him, considering how it was speculated the Nets weren't interested in him or didn't think he could make a team on 1st impressions.
-Petey

Didn't he just say two weeks ago, that he wasn't interested in playing for the Knicks again? It must be the money New York is offering him, that's got his interest now. It really doesn't matter, I would like the guy to play for the Knicks, but I won't die if he decides to go somewhere else.

I'd actually rather have Nate, Jamal, or QRich over Houston, so let the Knicks sign him and we'll pick up whoever gets cut.

Nate's got a bit of an attitude to him, but he's a really good player. Not sure he fits the ideal-Nets-PG-mold (being 'pass first') but he's a good scorer and from what I've seen he hits the open 3 ball consistently.
Plus, he blocked Yao friggin Ming of all people.
