I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Brown. He may be older than C-Webb, but I feel that he's in much better playing shape. He's also more what they Mavs need right now. Sure, Webber would be another star name added to the roster, which everyone loves(especially the Mavs), but right now he's just not as good a player as Brown. Besides that, I don't think the Mavs need another passer. Brown's a much better defender, and is still a bruiser even at the ripe age of 72. The Mavs need some more toughness, especially if, as they probably will, they advance to the second or third round and have to beat the likes of the Spurs and Jazz. He's also another defender to throw at Amare if they face the Suns.

QUOTE (Theo)

Another passer? Exactly which other "passers" do we have? Dampier..?

Exactly. Webber would be "the" passer on that team. (other than the pg)
I'm going to go as far as say that it would elevate Dirks game even more. (he has the talent), mvp?

I saw PJ play just about every game for the Bulls last year.

QUOTE (Theo)

Another passer? Exactly which other "passers" do we have? Dampier..?

Seriously? You don't have to rack up a lot of assists to be a passer(and sometimes you do rack up assists when you're not much of a passer). The Mavs run a small-ball lineup with two pointguards. Neither is a Steve Nash, but both can and usually do get the ball to the open man, or at least to Dirk. Howard's improving as a passer, and as Dirk trusts his teammates more, he's beginning to open up as well, though I doubt he'll ever be considered 'generous' with his dimes. And Stack's a much underrated passer from the 2/3, always has been. You don't necessarily see it as much when Avery puts him in for 'Instand O,' but its there.

QUOTE (Denny Crane)

Ack!!!!
PJ's history Webber has at least another year in him at a much higher level than PJ. But CWebb and PJ have the same range, and PJ bangs the boards and plays better defense.
Look at the Mavericks from the past two years, and honestly, which do they need more of? No matter which guy they get, he's gonna be taking minutes from Diop and Dampier(probably more from Dampier), not Nowitzki. The last thing the Mavericks need after two straight years of let downs in the playoffs, is to get softer by acquiring yet another guy who folds in the clutch.

I forgot where I read it, but it describes Webber perfectly.
paraphrasing - Last year Webber played like a 60 year old on the court. He knew exactly where to go, but his body couldn't get him there.

Both of those guys suck. For the minimum, I guess, I they're nice vets to have. For any sort of meaningful role where they'd be relied on, they'll do no good whatsoever.
