QUOTE

Warriors Coach Don Nelson signed his new contract Sunday, the team announced, confirming the agreement reached last week that will give Nelson a $2 million raise for the remaining two years on his contract, bumping him up to a $5.1 million salary. The deal also changes the third and final year to a team option.

With Nelson's contract out of the way, the Warriors can address other matters.

Starting center Andris Biedrins is expected to sign a contract extension before the new season starts. Point guard Baron Davis also is eligible for an extension. A source close to the negotiations said the Warriors and Davis' camp talked briefly but agreed to wait until Nelson's situation was resolved.

I think it's imperative that we lock up Biedrins. Who else can give us a near double double and have more presence on defense, earning us extra posessions, and passing the ball? He's like having a Tyson Chandler around.

I'd much rather have Biedrins than Chandler. I think Chandler's about as good as he'll ever be, Biedrins still has a high ceiling above him.

I'm not sure if he's added much to his nba game since we drafted him, he just gets more playing time. Beans may very well be as good as he's going to get unless his shot form miraculously improves or becomes a post-up scoring threat with his hookshot. On defense, he could get a lot better or stronger.
