<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"We won. That’s not something Lloyd Carr can say," said Bowden, referring to the coach of Michigan, whose team lost earlier this year to Football Championship Subdivision member Appalachian State, which plays in the Southern Conference in what was formerly known as Division I-AA with Furman.</div></p> Link. </p> Nice. Real classy.</p> And the best part is that Carr won't say anything about this because he is a professional who keeps his mouth shut and doesn't make excuses.</p> Not to mention he, along with every other college coach, can do his job infinitely better than that big mouth clown.</p> Disgusting. </p> </p> </p> </p>

When Tommy Bowden came to Clemson, there was a lot of hype....hes mostly lived up to it....despite what the people of the upstate think, you arent going to win 11 games at Clemson every year....if you go 9-3, beat SC and win your bowl game, you had a nice year....Clemson is not going to get anyone better than Bowden to come in there, its a B level job....what makes it all look much worse is the success Bowdens 1st O-Coordinator is having at WV right now....

The team continues to embarass itself. They play with no discipline. They forfeted a fucking bowl game for chrissake.</p> He can't make an in-game adjustment to save his life. He undermines his coaches. He thinks he's hot shiit.</p> Every year, he gives unprovoked opinions on other coaches. He shoots his mouth off, acts like a clown. </p> There's no way he runs a clean program. That's my saving grace. One day, he'll piss off the wrong person down there and he'll be fired in disgrace.</p> </p> </p>

They are both B level jobs....run him out of town if you want, and you and I can go back to watching the Tigers win 5 games a year and spend January getting psyched for Clemson baseball....

I know what a well-coached team looks like, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Clemson Tigers are pretty much the opposite.</p> One is just wrong. I can name many smaller schools with more impressive coaches making less money than Bowden.</p> Clemson has a TON of cash to spend on a coach. Have you ever heard of IPTAY?</p> </p> </p>
Im familiar with Clemsons operation....I lived in the Upstate for several years and worked for the Clemson Radio Network for several years....I can tell you that Clemson fans are generally disillusioned about the program and they think they should be National Title contenders every year....the truth is, its a B level program....they will have some highs where they get into contention and get ranked, and they will have some lows, where they dont play in bowl games, but most of the time, they are a 4 loss team thats fortunate to play in the Peach Bowl....they have no more money than the rest of the top-50 schools in the country....Clemson is my team, and I remember the era before Tommy Bowden....Im not too eager to go back to that crap....further, theres about 4 well coached D1A football teams in the country and the Clemson Tigers cant get any of those coaches, they arent on that level....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef)</div><div class='quotemain'>further, theres about 4 well coached D1A football teams in the country and the Clemson Tigers cant get any of those coaches, they arent on that level....</div></p> You keep saying that, but then you say that SC is on the same level, which doesn't make any sense.</p> If you can watch these Bowden teams without vomiting, good for you. I don't expect them to dominate or be a national contender every year. I do expect them to operate with some sort of professionalism and class and make the most out of their situation. Every year they fall miserably short of that goal. </p> Also, Bowden has done worse than Ken Hatfield and has done far, far worse than Danny Ford, so I guess this terrible "era" you are referring to are the five seasons where Tommy West got his head handed to him by FSU every year and Clemson forfeited no bowl games. Bowden has one more bowl win and the same amount of ACC titles as West (zero). So I for one am not afraid to go back to that "era" as it was no different than the current one. </p> Wake Forest won the ACC last year. Surely Clemson has the potential to have a football program that can outperform them. They have every advantage in recruiting, finances, facilities - everything.</p> And as far as there being four well coached teams, that's an absurd statement you must have regretted a second after you typed it. Some incredible coaches work for small schools with limited resources. Even the coach of Notre Dame can't get the players he needs to compete in today's atmosphere.</p> The bottom line is this. Bowden has no right to attack Lloyd Carr for no reason. It's stupid. It makes him and the entire program look bad, and he does these things all the time. </p> </p> </p>
West was ok, certainly not as good as Bowden has been....Hatfield was better, but one could argue he had Fords players and Ford was big time....but ask yourself this: Why would a big time coach want to go to Clemson when you can win just about anywhere now? You think the Wal Mart in Anderson is a big time draw for an up an coming coach? You can win at South Florida now....you can win at Rutgers....you can win in a warm weather college town or in a cultural mecca, in big cities and small towns....traditions don't mean what they once did....so why would a coach choose Upstate South Carolina(even though I would)....all Im saying is that the grass is rarely greener on the other side and if you run this guy out of town, theres no telling who you can get to replace him and the program may take a large step back....

Nobody wants to be second in the pecking order in his own AD.</p> I don't think Bowden has improved the program since he's been there. There's no real step back to be made. It's a program that no one respects, and he's a big part of the reason why.</p> </p> </p>
I don't think you can imitate the atmosphere at Death Valley at South Florida or most smaller universities.
