QUOTE

Thursday I asked Vincent if he still believed his team would capture the eighth and final playoff spot in the East, considering all the roster improvement by the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. Vincent's reply was essentially, "Who said I'm settling for eighth?'' He publicly prodded his team to aim higher, perhaps even home-court advantage, which requires a top-four finish. What's the man thinking? Doesn't he know coaches tamp down expectations, so that whatever they accomplish looks sufficient? Doesn't he realize ducking questions is easier than addressing them? No, he doesn't and that's refreshing. I don't see Vincent's statement as a gaffe by a rookie. I see it as an attempt to jump-start an expansion team.

-- Charlotte Observer

It's good to see him go right at it and set the bar high. The Bobcats have stocked up on a lot of young players in their first few years...if they can click and get it together, they could make some noise in the east.
That definitely is refreshing. The last thing we needed was a coach who shied away from expectations. The impetus is now, for the Bobcats to either make a push for relevancy or remain a cellar dwellar.
