QUOTE

Nike's site[/url] are feeling good right now.
For the rest of you who are seeing a "sold out" sign when you try to order your own Zoom Kobe II creations, here's some good news: Nike is producing a limited number of custom kicks per day in order to ensure superior quality, and more orders will be taken on a daily basis.
So if you missed out today, you can still create your design today and get your order in tomorrow...

Anyone pick these up yet? How are they?

Whats the motivation of buying those? What is the point of paying $145 for a pair of shoes?
Look at these $15 shoes.

What makes Kobe's expensive shoes better than these 15 dollar shoes? Why would I want to pay $130 more for something of the exact same quality?

You go buy those fake leather shoes for $15.00 without any cushioning and play basketball in them for 5 straight hours. Then tell me your feet don't hurt.
I just noticed, how come these don't come in Laker colorways? The Red and White screams Chicago to me.

Of maybe, just maybe, they realized how awful purple and gold look on (most) shoes, so they didn't waste their money on something that was going to look horrible and that people wouldn't buy due to that.

You think that the higher price means higher quality, which is definitely not true. Ben Wallace will be wearing those on the court,e vey game next season, so he is putting his play on the line wearing those. People like you are the reason that Kobe's shoes are allowed to be sold for $145, instead of $35.

You really think Ben Wallace is wearing the exact same shoe they sell to you in stores? Don't be ignorant.
These players have customized shoes with expensive orthopedic insoles in them. They also use higher quality material on their actual shoes than the ones you buy at the store.
Did I ever say I was going to buy a pair and pay full price? You sure make a lot of assumptions about someone you've never met or know anything about. Are you always this prejudice?

You were the one making assumptions, like that the Starburys are garbage because of the low price point. ABC's 20/20 did a study on the shoes, and found that they were made of the same materials that the Nike, Reebok's, and Adidas were made of.

QUOTE

And this week, Marbury won a new fan for his sneakers: Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA rival Dallas Mavericks. Cuban was seen wearing a pair of Starburys at a Knicks-Mavericks game and according to hoopsworld.com, Cuban said, "I love, love, love, them. Are there better shoes? Yeah. Are there better shoes worth $120 dollars? No. I give him (Marbury) his credit. I don't think he has gotten enough props."
Cuban went on to say, "They're aren't many things we will do in our lives that will have an impact on culture and social change. To be able to send a message to kids and sell millions of shoes so the message gets through saying, save that extra $85 and buy your kid a guitar or some clothes. That is huge."
"You can look at 'NBA Cares' all you want. You can look at the things I've done for charity all you want. The NBA has never done anything as impactful as what he has done."

You just have to be witnessed to the movement, and help in making the expensive sneaker industry collapse.
Don't get me wrong, not calling Nike's etc. crap. They're good shoes. But the Starbury shoes are of equal quality. $15, or $100, it seems like an easy decision to me.
