Mark Teixeira hopes he can help propel the Braves to theirfourth straight win on Wednesday when the club wraps up athree-game series with the Florida Marlins on Wednesday. Teixeira, a midseason acquisition from the Texas Rangers, canhardly be blamed for the team's inability to make a serious runat the New York Mets for the National League East crown. The27-year-old first baseman has homered 12 times since joining theBraves on August 1. Teixeira went 2-for-4 in the Braves' 4-3 triumph over theMarlins on Tuesday to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.The switch-hitting slugger is batting .311 with 25 homers and 92RBI this season. Florida will turn to Dontrelle Willis (9-15, 5.34 ERA) to shutdown Teixeira and the Braves' offense. The 25-year-oldlefthander has lost 12 of his previous 14 decisions but didregister the win in his last outing, yielding five runs andseven hits and four walks over six innings in a 7-6 victory overthe Colorado Rockies on Friday. He will be opposed by lefthander Chuck James (10-10, 4.30), whohas just one win since the end of July. James lasted just threeinnings in his last start, giving up three runs and six hits inFriday's 8-5 win over the Washington Nationals. The Marlins have lost their last three games.
