Rodney Harrison Cheats Prior to Super Bowl According to this Boston Herald article, Rodney Harrison received preloaded syringes two weeks before the Super Bowl with the Panthers. The article also says that he has been using HGH for three years. Harrison got a four game suspension for three years of HGH. That's just a little over a game per year of HGH. I guess Harrison is proving that cheaters win after all, even if you get caught red handed.
http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/footbal...ticleid=1032573

Honestly, the majority of the players in the NFL either use HGH or have used it at one point, IMO. There's no effective way of testing for it and with all the non-guaranteed money in their contracts, I don't see why they wouldn't try and get any edge they can find.
You can probably count the NFL players that haven't used performance enhancers on one hand.
I would like to know why elmunro edited my topic title. It was accurate. I supported the topic title with a legit news source, the Boston Globe. I realize that some people may have gotten their feeling hurt by the title, but it's the truth. If a Dolphins player murdered someone, I would expect that someone might start a topic, in the Dolphins forum, that says "Dolphin Player Murderer." Is this the heavy handed way debates are going to be handled on this board? There's nothing that ruins a board quicker than a mod with a god complex. The bottom line is that this topic should read, "Rodney Harrison Cheats Prior to Super Bowl."

But your statement isn't correct. The Boston Globe made no such claim. They reported that another newspaper was reporting information provided by a source.

QUOTE

The story, which cites unnamed law enforcement sources, said Harrison received a package of preloaded syringes at his home about two weeks before the Patriots beat the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII.

That isn't proof

Receiving HGH is much different than murdering someone. Don't even start to compare them.
Also ehmunro, if you could change the team slogan, I don't think it fits this great team.

I used murder as an analogy because IT IS a far greater negative than using HGH. I figured that most people would see that. If you wouldn't change a massive negative like murder when it's the truth, then why would you edit cheating by using HGH? I assumed that most people reading my post had the intelligence to follow the logic in the example that I was making. Another lesson in why BA never assumes.

For one, the title wasn't accurate. In second, you incorrectly named your source (which is why I edited, you referred to a story in the Herald, not the Globe as you initially wrote), which itself contained only a nameless source making an accusation. Lastly the title was meant to bait Patriots fans. My reaction would be the same if Patriots fans were going into the Dolphins forum and starting threads with titles like "Nick Saban Another Cheating Miami Coach" or Red Sox fans were going into Toronto or Baltimore forums to bait the posters. Or if Baltimore Ravens fans were going into the Jets forum to start threads entitled "Jets Manwini cheats after accusing former boss of cheating" (which he did in yet another loss). I don't care that you hate the Patriots because they're the best team in the NFL and in the Dolphins' division. Baiting is a no-no.

As far as I'm concerned, the Herald is as good a source as any, if the Boston Globe is refering to them, and I'm sure they wouldn't print just anything for fear of being sued for libel.
2. You changed the title. You did nothing to clarify my error in citing the Globe and not the Herald.
3. I don't bait. I call them like I see them. SportsTwo may have bought out NFL-Forums, but that doesn't mean that you know me. I have a good reputation for being objective over the years. If you have something negative about the Dolphins that is factual, then go for it. You better hurry because I might beat you to it. Last spring, I was one of the ones calling out Nick Saban for his lying. I've torched Ricky Williams for being a pothead. I've also expressed my displeasure in Randy McMichael for getting in trouble for assaulting his wife.
4. I don't hate the Patriots because they are so good. I used to admire them. However, I hate them now and a large part of that is because they think they are bigger than the game and can get away with breaking the rules. Bill Belicheat stands behind his podium and declares that the issue is over. That makes my blood boil. Who is he to say that the issue is over? The cheaters don't get to decide that. He's made a great living off of the game I love and he drags it down into the dirt. I can't stand that punk. Same goes for Harrison. How many times have we had to listen to his "nobody respects us" crap and all the while he's taking HGH. Your right, Rodney, I don't respect you. A little remorse, REAL REMORSE, and I might be able to muster some compassion, but the current Patriot regime has become so self-centered that it's a cancer to football.

In your initial post you referred to the Boston Herald as the Boston Globe. That was why I edited it. In the course of looking at it the article repeated a claim in another newspaper citing anonymous sources. I'm not sure how much competitive short-term edge there is in HGH; it's more a long term drug. So the title is unclear and clearly aimed at baiting New England fans. So, yes, we're supposed to prevent that sort of thing here.
As for HGH, as I said, it's generally more of a long term benefit type of drug. Despite the FDA's Kessler-era war against it it's a very effective anti-aging drug when used properly under medical supervision. Harrison's reason for using it is certainly logical (the body's rapidly declining rate of HGH production is one reason that the rate at which you heal slows significantly after the age of 35), and if he were really looking for a pure short term performance boost I'm sure he could just poll his fellow players as to what they're using for performance enhancers (and certainly any testosterone would be a better short term booster than HGH).

If someone had come to any one of you, say, back in March. And told you that an NFL team would get into big trouble. That they'd be accused of taping other teams illegally, and doing all manner of underhanded crap. Everybody here would have said, "Yep, Al Davis is at it again".
Sometimes the bad guys aint who you think they are.

Whether Harrison was taking a testosterone derrivative or a growth hormone, there are short-term performance benefits to both. HGH , which has been a banned substance in the NFL since 1991, is harder to detect than straight steriods, and it took the NFL a long time to finally come up with testing method that can or would catch it. The NFL testing finally caught up with Harrison. The drugs are, in fact, illegal. That is why he was part of a law enforcement investigation conducted by the FBI in connection with his purchases. HGH is typically given to children with growth hormone deficiencies and seniors.
Rodney cheated, Belicheat cheated, and they are both still employed by the Patriots. If New England wanted to show good faith in the integrity of this game, they would fire both.

What a pointless series of posts. Who cares about the semantics of the thread title? Only an idiot posts in a thread without having read the article.
Rodney Harrison is a cheater, there's no doubt about that. But concentrating all your anger on him is like blaming Barry Bonds for the MLB's steroid problem. He may have been one of the few players caught, but that doesn't mean he's in the minority when it comes to HGH use.
And you can try to argue that this somehow taints the Patriots' Super Bowl win, but it doesn't. The fact of the matter is that most of Harrison's teammates and opponents were probably using HGH as well.

ehmunro, i really resent your constant and false accusations that I'm baiting Patriot fans. Are Rodney Harrison and Bill Belicheat the only players that I have bashed? Have you read my posts about Mike ConVick, Turd Orifice, Randy McMichael, Ricky Williams, "Bitter" Bob Kuechenberg, Mercury Morris, Pill Romanowski, Matt Millen, Joe Theismann or any of the other many athletes or front office types that I have bashed for being idiots on or off the field. I've even given Brett Favre a hard time for sticking his nose in Javon Walker's business and I'm a Farve fan. I'm objective. I bash idiots no matter what color they wear including aqua and orange. If you question that then ask some of the NFL Forums guys. I'm trying to be respectful of SportsTwo, but I'm not going to start over from scratch building a reputation or having my reputation torn down because NFL Forums was bought out. The truth is that Rodney Harrison is serving a suspension for taking HGH and editing me won't change the fact that he cheated.
Hopefully, I'll have enough restraint to make this my only post in this thread.
First, I knew Dale was making an analogy. Granted, its shocking and has negative connotations, but, how is that different from tactics the "real" media uses? They have more credibility and leeway because they're professional? Gotta agree w/ Chutney about arguing over semantics; It is petty IMO.
Second, most of us who came from NFL forums migrated from another site wherewe dealt w/ 2 moderators w/ a god complex so we have little tolerance for the same heavy handed tactics.
Third, Dale, Beef, & myself are honest, straight forward, pragmatic individuals and do call things as we see them. We all had issues w/ Saban. Not as many as we hadw/ thecoach before Nick who is trying to restore the University of Pittsburgh to greatness & that 1 RB. I really feel for Pitt fans suffering thru this vanilla reign. Further, we dealt with alot of crap last year because experts picked the phins to go to the Super Bowl. Speaking for myself only, I thought Miami had a good chance to contend for the AFCE title but was wrong.
I frequent a site devoted to Miami fans. What a bunch of holier-than-thou negative nancies that lot is. If it weren't for Dale, Beef, & myself and weren't a phins fan, I might think Dolphins fans were idiots.Instead, I have issues w/ Bills fans & the Denver media.
Bottom line; Rodney & Bill did something that was against the rules and have been punished for them. I am willing to let it go. I, too, have lot some respect for the Pats franchise & BB.
