Baiting isn't allowed and that was the reason the title was edited. There was no abuse.

The title of the thread is sensationalized based upon alleged information. It is too over the top as it is

QUOTE (The Return of the Raider)

The bottom line - Rodney Harrison violated the NFL's ban on performance-enhancing drugs, and he broke US law. Whether Harrison was taking a testosterone derrivative or a growth hormone, there are short-term performance benefits to both. HGH , which has been a banned substance in the NFL since 1991, is harder to detect than straight steriods, and it took the NFL a long time to finally come up with testing method that can or would catch it. The NFL testing finally caught up with Harrison. The drugs are, in fact, illegal. That is why he was part of a law enforcement investigation conducted by the FBI in connection with his purchases. HGH is typically given to children with growth hormone deficiencies and seniors.

NFL testing didn't catch up with Harrison. An FDA investigation of a medical supply house produced his name (the FDAsubpoenaedthe customer records). Harrison simply confessed what he'd been doing. HGH would still take a little longer to work than two weeks (presuming that the anonymous allegations are even true), and Rodney Harrison's steroid use would have had no effect on the game greater than the steroid abuse of the dozens of other players on both teams in that game. Football is a sport where steroid abuse is rampant, them's the simple facts. Pretending that Rodney Harrison was alone is simply hilarious. And involves being willfully blind to something you know, human beings don't heal as quickly as NFL players do. Not without chemistry.

QUOTE (TheBeef)

I changed the title back....Its an abuse of Mod privledges to change the title of posts just beause you dont like the wording when the poster broke no rules....

I'm sorry, since when did baiting other teams fanbases becomepermissibleunder the ToS? Should New England fans begin starting threads on the Miami board gloating in their failure? If they do I don't want any grief from you Miami fans (though I'm going to stop the practise anyway). I was clear, I wouldn't tolerate baiting no matter who was doing it. Not Celtics fans, not Rockets fans, not Packers fans, not Patriots fans, not SF Giants fans, not Red Sox fans, and not NHL fans (I used to have a favourite team, but I abandoned the league after the last strike). When the Celtics send the Bulls packing this year you won't see me permitting Celtics fans to gloat on the Bulls board, that's what the Celtics board is for. Threads like this, frankly, belong on the Miami board, where Dolphins fans can commiserate together about the evil Patriots.

C'mon guys, let's relax and have fun. It's what we're here for.

The guidelines are that players, teams, and even fans (in general, as in "49ers fans want whine with their cheese") are fair game. Trash talk/gamesmanship is a huge part of sports! But let's respect one another.

I went to change the thread title to something a little more descriptive of what was being discussed. However, if you and the other Dolphin fans would like to see fans of good NFL teams starting threads on your board to gloat over your misfortunes, then fine. Have your way. But I don't want ANYcomplaints from you guys.

This thread was started with the intention of baiting Patriots fans, if it wasn't you would have given the thread a title describing what it was about. If New England fans were going onto the Miami boards and starting threads to gloat over the Dolphins' misfortunes your self-righteousness would know no bounds. You know that as well as I do. The reason for avoiding baiting is that it makes our jobs as moderators that much more difficult. You start doing this shit on other boards, then other teams fans start doing it to you. And because you guys have been so self-righteous here, you can't even complain because you're going to get your words thrown in your faces. What are you Miami mods going to say? "Hey, I'm allowed to flame other teams fans on their boards, but I's got privileges." As a moderator I am trying to keep the acrimony to an acceptable level so that people aren't leaving the board because they're tired of seeing the boards they like flamed. Lastly, for the idiotic charge that I have a god complex, if that were true I just mighthave edited out even one of the 17,000 insults that Miami fans have thrown at me in these three threads. Or, hell, maybe even edited out the content of any of the posts that I find silly and/or stupid. Just a thought. I am asking for a modicum of civility as regards Patriots fans from you fans of other teams, because you know damn well that you'd demand it of Patriots fans posting on your boards. And with the exception of the one Bears fan, fans of other teams have had no troubles keeping civil, so I don't believe that I'm asking a lot.

I am not asking for anyone to take care of anything. People can write whatever they want about me because I genuinely don't give a shit what people think of me. This isn't about me, it's about managing acrimony. That's all this "evil plot" was about. Discouraging New England fans from imitating the Dolphins fans from these last three threads and the lone Bears fan making an ass of himself. If you persist in doing it here, New England fans are going to take notice, and they're going to start doing it on your boards. I'd really like to avoid that scenario as I've watched a forum die the death of a thousand departures before because of that sort of thing. I didn't think a modicum of civility was an unreasonable request (because I didn't so much as the alter content of anyones actual posts except to correct a misattributed link).

Please feel free to post whatever you want about the bears in that forum. If it is even close to legitimate i will defend or agree with the point. I wont call you bitter no matter what you post. Thats the difference. You keep calling out me or saying i am posting what i feel cuz grossman is bad, but i am simply talking about the patriots and thier awful horrible destruction of the integrity of football through cheating. I havent said anything about you other than pointing out you are defending patriots by attacking me. I wish that would stop, and you would defend patriots and keep thread on track.

There was already a thread about Rodney Harrison's use of HGH, which the original poster knew very well, because he was active in the thread. There was one reason for the new thread. It was to piss off Patriots fans.

Bailing for what? SportsTwo is actively recruiting internet boards, this means that people from outside your particularcliquewill be joining the boards. We were initially told to keep the baiting to an acceptable minimum. As such nothing of the post content in these threads has been changed. I edited one word DD's post, I changed the word Globe to Herald because he'd linked to an article in the Herald (he'd confused the two papers as he'd linked to the Globe article in the first Rodney Harrison thread, which was started by a Patriots fan). If he'd posted in the existing thread devoted to the subject, he could have said whatever he wanted and no one would have batted an eyelash. But he wasn't interested in that, he was interested in pissing off New England fans.
INEVERsaid you did. We have known others (Falcons fans if U must know) thatdid think they were god.
As the charge was thrown about while you were discussing me, pardon me for drawing the logical (and absurd) conclusion
Lets just say my tolerance level for what I know to be questionable posts is alot higher than it is for whiners.
As I didn't alter his or anyone else's content at all, I'd say that my tolerance for the bullshit is pretty high.

    1. I orginally used the phrase "mod with a god complex." I did it right after I asked if these forums were going to be moderated very heavy-handedly. I never said that anyone in particular was a mod with a god complex.

    2. It wasn't just my "Globe/Hearld" mistake that was edited. It was the title of this thread. I objected because this thread was meant to comdemn Rodney Harrison's actions. After listening to Harrison's "nobody respects us" crap for what felt like forever, I wanted to word the title in a raw, but accurate manner. Rodney Harrison is a public figure and Denny has said, in this very thread, that makes him fair game.

    3. I really don't appreciate ehmunro's constant false and baseless accusation that I'm baiting. I have bashed many athletes and front office figures, which I have listed earlier in this thread, and that list includes several Miami Dolphins. NFL Forums existed before SportsTwo and while I respect and appreciate what Denny is trying to do here, I'm not going to start from scratch rebuilding an objective reputation or having my reputation be torn down without defending myself.

    4. I put this thread, regarding Rodney Harrison, in the Patriots forum because he's a Patriot. Where else would I put it? In the Dolphins forum? Really? Are these forums like turf? I feel like I'm in the Brady Bunch episode where Bobby and Peter took tape and divided their room. Give me a break. By the way, here is a thread that I started about former Dolphin, Lamar Thomas, in the Dolphins forum where it belonged. I didn't take it easy on Thomas because of who he played for either.

    5. I've just gained a greater appreciation for JustBry. The negative things that I have said about Rodney Harrison and Bill Belicheat are nothing compared to the dogging of Michael Vick that I have done over the past several years. JustBry hasdisagreed and debated with me, butI don't think he ever accused me of baiting. If you don't think I dogged Vick, then go look at the Falcons forum because that's where I started them. Why? Because Vick is a Falcon. Duh! I also started a thread, The INDISPUTABLE Truth about Brett Favre's Big Mouth, when Favre stuck his nose in Javon Walker's contract dispute (and I like Farve). I remember Porky debating me over the issue, but I don't remember him crying "bait."

    6. Posters are going to start negative threads in the Dolphins forum? Have you ever been to the Dolphins forum? Like BA said, we've had Bills, Lions, Patriots and a host of other fans start crap with us for no reason. (Yeah, a Lions fan. I don't get that either.) I've had Patriot fans say that I look like a terrorist and hate the Patriots like Al Queda hates Americans. I really don't think that there's anything that anyone can bring that the DWO hasn't faced before.

Also, to the point of there already being a thread about Rodney Harrison using HGH, I started this thread with an article that pointed out that he was using before the Super Bowl. I don't remember specific time frames being mentioned in the previous thread. In my eyes, this was a new development and this article warranted a new thread.

However, there's no need for you to get upset and take this personally as it had zilch to do with you and everything to do with trying to make our jobs as moderators easier (because we're charged with growing these boards, and part of that is preventing people from walking away). If I had been looking at the Lakers board and noticed a Rockets fan doing this I would have done the exact same thing. When S2 started we were supposed to keep this sort of thing to a manageable level. That's why I tried to do it, except that thread titles can't even be changed yet, so nothing happened. I've discussed this with Blackadder and consider the matter closed.

    Well stated.

It is my hope that S2 earns a reputation as a site with awesome mods who don't have a god complex; we're going to keep good posters posting that way.

I also want to point out that ehmunro is a fine GM (I've known him for years, and he's earned my respect) and that his edit was ill-advised, but he did make the kind of decision that mods are expected to make from time to time. I seriously doubt he did anything with ill intent or with any particular agenda that wasn't in his judgement in the best interests of the site. We should give him the benefit of the doubt and move on (and I think his last post is a good step toward making things right, to his credit).

The discussion here has been heated, I haven't seen one person involved complain about that, so I see no reason to put a stop to it or edit.

I agree with your 2nd post, as well, that you have your reasons for starting a new thread, and as long as you're not spamming (e.g. starting many threads on the same topic in too short a time period), I see no reason to question your motives for doing so. Your judgement in these things is fine by me.

And you started the new thread with one thing in mind, you're not fooling me here. That's why I tried to do it, except that thread titles can't even be changed yet, so nothing happened.I've discussed this with Blackadder and consider the matter closed.

You can talk with BA all you want and you can consider this matter closed, but that doesn't mean anything to me. You and I are going to have problems as long as you continue to try and sully my reputation as a baiter. I've given you plenty of examples where I've been hard of football players of plenty of teams. Trust me, if I was the type to bait someone, I could do a much better job than this thread. Regardless, this tread is consistant with my posting style for as long as I've been with NFL Forums and it's never been a problem because I'm going after public figures. I'm really trying to make SportsTwo my new posting home, but this whole thing is starting to make me feel like us NFL Forum guys are just dirty step kids that better not get our feet on the nice couch or maybe it is just me.
